Little League selected me to go work a tournament for the third straight season.

In 2011, I worked the Senior League Baseball World Series in Bangor, ME (I worked the regional in 2007 to qualify for Bangor).

Last season, I worked the Little League Central Region Baseball tourney in Indianapolis.

This August, I'll be working the Junior League Baseball Regional in Fort Wayne, IN.

The only difference is that this year there'll be no ESPN on the premises for any of the tournament.  Still, I always have a blast giving a little something back to the game (and my community) that has treated me pretty well and going to work these tourneys is a bit of recognition for the work we do back home.

Our district is also hosting the WI State Little League Baseball tournament (we get this honor every sixth year), so July and August will be quite busy this season.

Rich, how come no ESPN this year? I always enjoy watching the tournament

They tend to only cover the regional majors division (11 & 12's) and the all divisions world series finals.

Congrats!

I've work Little League as well, this will be my 3rd year, but I work for pay, so I'm not eligible to go to Tournaments... When the time comes that I have a full time job (currently a student), I'd be very interested in the volunteering, and putting myself out there for possible tournaments

@Birdie - He is working the Junior League (13-15 YO) this year, which has always had minimal TV coverage... The "Majors" division of LL (11-13 YO) will be televised to the extreme as usual I'd expect.

The only televised game of the division I'm working is the World Series final from Taylor, Michigan.  The winner of my tournament will advance to this tournament.

I got my plate job on ESPN and memories to last a lifetime.  We have an umpire going to Indianapolis this season to do the tourney I did last year and I've already reminded him of the shoes he needs to fill. ;)

I'm excited for baseball again.  There's a huge amount of snow on the ground and it's 17 degrees outside and it's January.  But we had the NCAA clinic yesterday and that always fires me up a little bit.

Congrats Rich. Sadly, the Junior World Series could have been here in Vancouver, WA if the city and county could have gotten their crap together.

Congrats Rich. I got select to do the Southeastern Region Senior Baseball Sent from under my bed via my Note 2

Have fun in Viera, I know and have met the hosts there, very nice people. The host league UIC I believe just got back from the Senior WS and I have a nice coin from him from a state tournament we worked together.

On the other hand, an umpire who I work with frequently is going to the LL WS this year, I think she will be the only female umpire there. It will be pretty cool to see her on TV and it will be a great experience for her.
