I am taking my uniforms to the cleaners for the last time this season. Gear cleaned and prepped for storage. It's been a good year. Saw some great ball, met some new friends, and got to call a bunch of games. Games in Georgia this weekend put my total at 319 for the year. There's 1 more tourney I could do next weekend, but I'm ready for a break. Finished with 5 coach and 1 player EJ. In about 2 weeks I'll be wishing February would hurry and get here. SWMBO has me a LLOONNGG list of stuff to do.

319 is a great year. Congrats trout. Although I'm actually a little surprised that your season isn't longer. It's still warm down there right? In NJ we go until the weekend before thanksgiving. (Not this yr though as that bitch Sandy had other ideas.)

I disagree. I'd rather be a little cold and have to layer under a jacket than be sweating profusely behind the ate for a dh in August.

I knew it had to end sometime, here up "north." But I was able to keep myself going, just thinking that somewhere out there Jocko was still at it, still carrying on, still keeping the torch lit, still keeping the ball in play, still not saying "that's enough," still in the box, still punching that out,... But, now, now, I'll just have to stare out the window and wait till Spring.

All good things come to an end. I had possibly 1 more weekend to call. I had to holler calf rope when SWMBO said she was lonely on weekends. There are 3 things in this world I love more than umpiring, and they all live in my house.

But, I'm curious, what are the other two things?

Get your priorities straight its your flat screen, your polywools, and reebok plate shoes, then the "others".

My season is still trickling along, mostly with rec fall ball games that I want to shoot myself with. Then there's hs basketball and boy is that fun... and most importantly pays better and is a shorter game then baseball. :)
