I hope you guys don't mind me using this space, but I have a bit of a dilemma and can use some help. Here in NJ, Gasoline has become very hard to come by. I'm supposed to bring my daughter up to Boston college tomorrow for an interview/portfolio evaluation. Here's my problem. I've got about 1/2 a tank of gas. enough to get me into the Danburry area of Ct..maybe Hartford. Does anyone have any idea if this gas shortage is a problem in that area? I've waited on 2 gas lines today for over 2 hours only to be turned away when each station ran out before I got to the pumps. Sorry again for using this space for this, but I don't want to get 1/2 way to Boston and not be able to fill up. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think it is a problem, I certainly haven't heard any such thing, but perhaps a phone call or two to the Chambers of Commerce of some towns along the way to find out.

Excellent idea. I'm beginning to panic and not coming up with the easy answers like that :smachhead:

the gas situation in nortern NJ is crazy...people are waiting literally 3 hours on line for gas for car or generators...people are driving 30 miles each way to fill up in pennsylvania...i have about 1/2 tank in each car and i cant imagine it will last more than a few days so im not too concerned..but its really something..

I have some type of hispanic festival tomorrow night. I was told today that they were trying to figure out how to get the main act down from NY. They said they were having trouble getting gas up there and wanted somebody from down here to come up and get them. I pointed out by the time they get there they would gas too, what's the difference? Plus, going through NJ is not a good idea, getting there from PA and cutting across sucks. Not my responsibility but I thought I had to point out the obvious.

there is no issue in Danbury or Hartford. Good luck to your daughter at BC (GO EAGLES), i certainly hope the trip is with if for you both. The Heights is a great area of Boston. If you have time go to Mike's Pastry on Hanover Street, you'll regret it if you dont. Safe travels!

I hate to do this since I'm non-partisan and will not be voting for either of the buffoons on the major party tickets, but this sums it up nicely: http://www.ocregister.com/opinion/president-376580-government-new.html

Thanks for the info. Just got back tonight. One correction...We went to BU, not BC. :smachhead: . Got lucky Thursday morning and found a station here where I only waited about 15 minutes to fill up. Filled up the tank on the way home around Waterbury, so I'm good til the middle of the week. Tonight in NJ the lines were longer than ever, and tomorrow we start the odd/even days depending on our license plates. Feels like the Jimmy Carter '70's all over again.

The visit/portfolio review went real well for my daughter. If I was a betting man I'd say she has a better than good chance at being accepted there. :rock Now I just have to figure out how the heck we're gonna pay a BU education :agasp_: :wow:

Half of Marlboro has power. I'm not that lucky. Might be as much as another week.

Amazing how those D1 major college basketball guys working 50-100 games never have to worry about their children's education bill.

Good luck.

I hope she appreciates all you do!

She does. I'm not one for bragging nor do I exaggerate, but since you brought it up..... I don't know many 17year old girls who have their head's on this straight. Honor student, 3rd in her class of 200, talented artist, very good writer, 2 year varsity tennis, member of of several clubs and president of the ecology club, volunteers at a parrot rescue center, works 20 hours per week. Well spoken and always courteous. She's well aware she's from a modest middle income family and how daunting the cost of a BU education is. I am extremely proud of her and I can't possibly do enough to help her. :rose:
