Go fair so the ball doesnt chase you but thats easier said than done of course. Ouch.

That's what he should have done. That can't happen.

Dude can jump and get off the ground for a 51 year old guy.

Your right. I shouldn't bash him too much considering my (lack of) hops.

A ball pulled from a righty could tail towards fair territory as well. I guess, choose and hope your right.

On second thought, I think I'm backwards. Pulled balls usually hook so you would be right.

Yankees fans had a hex on him for kicking the Texiera call at 1b (ominous scary music)

. That can't happen.

Why not?

Because he went the wrong way. A ball will almost never tail away from the foul line and towards the gaps. All he had to do was move further into fair territory.

Did you happen to see how fast the ball got hit?

He did what he could. He had about half a second to react. Umpires get hit from time to time. It can happen!

All I know is besides having a good vertical leap, he's a tough bastard. That hit right on the knee has to hurt like no other, he landed, made the call and never flinched. He didn't even walk it off.

I don't mean to blame the umpire. All I'm saying is that the umpires should do their best to move into fair territory here because the ball will almost never tail away from the line. I shouldn't have said that can't happen it definitely can and it is no fault of the umpire.

true and I said that too. But if the ball started out 3 feet to the right or three feet deeper then moving fair would of caused him to get hit. So sometimes its a tough read.
