Customizing your gear?

I did get the version with the elastic straps. Wasn't paying that much attention when I put it on. 

 

I got to use it in a scrimmage today for the first time. I don't know why I didn't listen to everyone sooner. That thing did not move at all. One of the catcher's had the catcher version on and it didn't look as nice as the umpire version. Definitely money well spent.

I have a new Douglas CP.  Since I am rather tall (6'5"), I ordered the longer version with the three plates in the front.  What I found is that since the t-hooks attached to the middle panel, the lower panel floats away from my body.  I unfortunately don't have a fat gut that allows for the lower part to remain in contact with my body.  It floats when standing, and it floats further from my torso when in the slot.  I contacted Douglas, and it was suggested that I reshape the plates with the help of a hair dryer.  Didn't work.  So, I took my old Wilson Platinum and removed the lower panel.  I attached some industrial velcro to the back and replaced the lower panel with it.  Now, it conforms to my body perfectly.  No gaps in protection, and it remains cinched up to my neck right were I want it.  Don't know if anyone else has encountered this problem and could perhaps share any other solutions.  

 

I'm sure I could call Douglas to order a new lower panel with t-hook holes, but this way was much cheaper.

 

Anyhow, here is a solution for those who may be looking.

So is it easy to put a deltaflex on my platinun? Is there sewing involved in doing this? Im not too great with my hands hope its pretty easy to do

No sewing. You'll just have to loop up the t-hooks.  After that, you'll be good to go and find that it is the best fit you've ever experienced.

Same way it was done prior to your removing the "stock" CP strap.

9 years later my custom TW retro fit is going strong. I wash it on delicate and hang dry twice a year. no rips or tears!

While the TW padding is wonderful, I'm deeply appreciative you removed that stupid billow pad! 

Looks sooooo much better.
