I hope I am dead before that happens. I kind of get MLB having it, they already have the cameras, but then it will be used at AAA, AA, A and College, Affluent Hig Schools will have it..

Where would it stop??

This ^. I really hope I don't have to contend with this technology at lower levels of baseball.

I can just see it coming to PONY and LL . . . three moms from each team will be assigned seats with instructions on where to point their i-phones in case the umpire needs to check the video . . . maybe someone will come up with an ap for that, so that all 6 can be sent to an ipad where the Umpire can watch them in synch to check the evidence. . .

What the issue is going to become is that on a "trapped ball" the umpires will now be taught to signal no catch, to allow the runners to advance...much like now in the NFL, when in doubt, the officials will signal "Touchdown" and since all scoring plays are reviewed, it can be "fixed" via replay. I don't like it but the technology is there.

Sure, everything is safe, all no catch, and correct it on replay. I'm for it to the extent it will shut people up, but it won't make the game better. They'll see just how good they are at the top. We already know that out of say 300 pitches a game, HP nails 90%+ of them. Timing plays are right way more than wrong, and fai/foul is right damn near every time. How many games in a regular week, 20? That's potentially 6000 pitches and 1080 potential whackers. And we see how many, 3 on any given sportscenter? 3 out of 1080? Kiss my ass, I'll take those odds.

Will they be in halter tops and booty shorts? Could be lots of video checks. May be worth it.

guaranteed to be M.I.W.F.s no way TPTB would allow Hooter's girls to handle IR.

Well the NFL & college have had instant replay in football for how many years? No IR on the HS or youth level yet. And HS football has had cameras at games for at least 40 years that I know of.

Separate "the show", from the sport.

But what I notice is the show is constantly berating the umpires/refs for mistakes. On TV, but not at the stadiums, they show over and over the slo mo replay of a close call, from 5 to 7 different angles, and then make their call. Should not be allowed on TV, as in stadium rules. Annoucers should keep their mouths shut.

LLWS is more show now. If Disney says to play the final a certain time, that's what will happen.

Very true. It's another reason we see every blown call on ESPN. They're huge advocates of more IR. What better showcase for IR than the LLWS......

"See it works here, it can work in MLB too." :TD:

LLWS might as well not even have umpires they use replay so often.

Truth be told, I've seen more LLWS calls reversed on IR that should never have needed to be reversed. Some very bad officiating. Not throwing stones, but they either need IR or better officials.

The Rightsholders have a financial incentive to support expanded instant replay what with extended game times and ratings and a showcase of their camerawork.

And this is ultimately what it will come down to.

Actually I believe the ratio was a little less than 50-50 in the umpire's favor. Many that got reversed were only done after very many slo-mo replays. If it takes three guys six or more slo-mos from various angles to overturn, it is not a bad call. There were some simply bad calls that should have been overturned but I still don't like it.
