Ok, in an effort to grab some NBs at a great price, I found 450s at $69. BUT, on the same site, the 460s are $99. What I thought was much more is now only a $30 difference.

Who has (has had) both the 450 and 460?? I know you definately size up a 1/2 size in the 450, and some have even suggested getting them wider also. But, what about the 460 sizing? And, are there things you like that much more about the new 460 than the 450?

I know these shoes have been discussed a lot , but not in a comparison thread like this.

Thanks ........

I own both as well as the Reebok Field Magistrates.

The 460's are more true to size. I just don't understand why the dang laces are SO long!

Question then ...what size do you have in the Rbks, 450s and 460s, so I have a "visual" :D thanks

I have both the 450's and 460's in size 9. I should have sized up at least a half a size for the 450's as they are tight. The 460's run true to sized for me. Alot more comfortable and more room than the 450's. Hope that this helps a bit.

Thunder,

Basically the same as Hojo. NB 450's, size 11.5, NB 460's, size 11, Reeboks, size 11.

THAT is what I'm looking for right there!!!!!!!!!! Thank you sir!

I bought the 460 in March and while they are very comfortable I question the durability. I only do about 2-3 games behind the plate a week in HS, JV, or LL. So it's not like I'm over using them. I keep them wiped down good after every game and I'm noticing a LOT of issues. The stitching is already starting to come loose around the main protector on the foot and the steel plate is starting to wear thru the toe of the other shoe.

I contacted NB and they said to send them in and they would inspect to see if I needed a replacement.... right and then I sit here and umpire in flip flops? Nope. I have their field shoe too. Got them last Fall and the tongue is already coming unstitched in the left shoe.

These are my first ever pair of field or plate shoes so maybe this is the norm with all brands but I hope not.

I have seen a pair of NB460 plate shoes come apart at the seam that is under the metatarsal plate. That is not an isolated incident.

I have two NB 450s and the Reeboks, 2009 vintage.

Both pairs of NBs are quite durable, and definitely undersized (I'm a true 13EE and they're the most snug of any 13EE I've ever worn). I have one pair that I used more than the other, and I have had zero durability issues. The second pair are my primary shoes.

I did have issues with the Reeboks, particularly with the soles, which have worn down to almost nothing in about a year.

UPDATE!!

Got a phone call from NB just now and they are going to ship me a new pair and then I can send these back to them in the same prepaid packaging. WOW! That's good customer service!

I have NB 450's....Definitely half size up from your normal shoe size. No issues with durability with mine at all, they shine up easy, I think they are pretty comfortable...Took a ball off the left toe just last night...No problem at all. Have to change the shoe laces immediately though when you get them...The ones that come with them will break about the second time you put them on....

I purchased NB450 this off season when I found them on sale for $69. These shoes are very comfortable and I have really enjoyed wearing them. I have taken multiple toes shots and have not felt a thing. A couple nights ago I was doing a game, there was a foul pop up and the catcher quickly stepped back looking for the ball, they stepped on my toes and rolled their ankle. I didn't feel a thing and didn't know what happened until I looked down and saw cleat marks on my shoe.

I wear size 14, which is what I ordered in the NB450. They fit great with a thick sock, with a thin sock they may even be a little too big.

Got 450s today from Purchase Officials for $69. I just like the 450s looks better .....

I sized 1/2 up and up in width also ...perfect! Roomy, and comfy!

Can't wait for the test ride! :D

Thanks for everyone's insight!

Well, I have the 450 and I hate them! The sole went off and they are the most uncomfortable plate shoe ever, I have the magistrate and I love them but Im planning to give the 460's a try

Bought the 460 in June and used it through July (~30 plate games).  Didn't work fall baseball this year, but as I was cleaning them up one last time, I realized a tear in the front stitching, below the metatarsal plate on the left shoe.  Obviously, I wasn't very happy.  Ordered them from Amazon, but their policy is only 30-days.  Contacted New Balance today and sent them a picture.  Hoping to get a new pair sent to me soon.

Hoping my customer service experience is the same as other's experience has been.  If I don't get a replacement, I'll have to look at the Reeboks and I'll have to get my base shoes elsewhere as well.

Let us know how that works with New Balance.

I think MidAmUmp is on his third pair of NB460s.  Whatever vendor he bought them from has replaced them twice I believe.  Sounds like uxman had the same issue that he did.
