Had a Varsity game tonight I had the plate.

Visitors losing 6-7 last inning.

No lights on the field and I was going to call the game because of darkness.

Visitors have bases loaded no outs.

Batter hits a fly ball to deep center. 1 out

R2 had left on contact. Thrown out at 2nd. 2 outs :wave:

R3 tries to tag to to score to tie the game but leaves way to early. Defense Appeals.

Out 3 Game over! :wave:

Reminds me of my first game ever, 3 years ago. 8 year old little league (rec). HT down 1, bottom 6, bases loaded no out. Kid hits a nice fly to F8. All the runners start running. In typical 8 year old fashion, F8 hold up the glove and the ball lands in it. Every daddy coach and parent yelling something at someone. F8 trots in, steps on 2nd, and tags R1 who's standing on 2nd. ..Ballgame!

I was plate ump last night for a middle school jv game that was one of the worst games I had seen. Mostly little kids barely able to swing the big ole BBCOR bats and the defense was horrible. Late in the game with runners at 1st and 2nd one of the few big kids smokes high outside pitch right down the 1st base line. First baseman was still on the bag holding the runner snags the line drive 2 outs simultaneously, then throws to the SS covering second and bam, 3 outs.

I had mine a couple of weeks ago at 12U, R1, R2, runners off with the pitch, line out to short, steps on 2nd, then fires to first in time to get R1. Didn't think much of it at the time until after the game when my partner (who was changing fields) brought it up to my new partner.
