College Opening Day

I start my college season today. NAIA non-conference, 1-9 and 1-7. The high today is 37, gotta love college baseball!

The games were great. The first was 2:15 and the second was 1:50.

The temperature topped out at 30.

When I worked college ball it was nothing to work in sleet or flurries the first part of the season. It's called the cold weather strike zone! :nod:

Somewhere on here there's a thread about never wearing a jacket on the dish. We wear 'em in Minnesota all the time because it's....well, friggin' cold up here.

We wear them here too. But, it has to be under 25 degrees or so. If it's warmer than that, the long sleeve is fine.

I worked 9 games this weekend at a USSSA tournament this weekend. It was 27 on my first dish game. I had on a t-shirt, long johns, another t-shirt, long sleeve turtle neck, my Wilson Gold, and my Majestic ThermaBase Jacket.

I'm in Florida!!! Its not supposed to be cold.

For you guys up North maybe 30 is warm but we Freeze our a$$es off!!!!

Exactly. Doesn't matter unless who assigns you wants it a certain way. "Just get the call right". Best thing probably ever said on this board. Myself, I wear a jacket if I'm cold and I don't tuck. Wasn't what a lot of us did when in pro ball. But really who cares. Get the call right

I saw this in Florida last year...and it was beyond me. I didn't think there were Smittys in Florida. I was wrong.

The ultimate bad uniform was a guy shows up for the plate with a blue short sleeve shirt, red long sleeve mock turtle and +POS blue bags with red tops. He got nicknamed Capt America.

The one year I went to CDP the championship game, the plate guy wore red, bases blue, OF lines black. It looked awful!

First college game of this season was on Sunday, 3/4. 35 degrees at first pitch, which was 10am. Local D-III JV team playing a JUCO team from Milwaukee. Took the dish, rocked the black longsleeve polo with Under Armour and another LS shirt and was pretty warm. Game itself was pretty uneventful, but due to poor fielding went 10 innings (game was supposed to be 1-7inning game)....JUCO team won 12-11. I was pretty comforable back there, considering I hadn't seen pitches since September...felt great to be back on a field, though.
