The only games she comes to see are the ones my son plays in......after my son completed 4 years as a NCAA baseball player and became a college assistant coach, my wife told him that she doesnt go to see me umpire and she wont go see him coach........

But now that he is back playing semi-pro, she had me put her baseball lawn chair back into the car.........back to games this summer again!.....

My wife will come out a few innings at a time. She lit a guy up one time, wasn't even yakking bad, but she got him none the less. She asked him if he realized the hours a week I devote to learning and teaching baseball year round. She asked him if he had any idea the money I spend on clinics and equipment, just so he could sit back there and act an ass. Then she left. Got to love momma bear.

I'm kind of scared to have to start teaching kids the basics. So far I've been fortunate enough to get to coach groups of girls that already know the basics, so all I have to do is just show them the more advanced tips and tricks to the game.

If you dread teaching the basics - then if you ever have a chance to attend an "Al and Al" clinic (LL official coach training), jump on it. Best thing I ever did as a coach. You'd be amazed at how doing even half of what you learn will improve your effectiveness as a coach.

I think it'd be fun, but there isn't much around here that helps coaches out. I know that my life is always much easier when I have one or two other coaches. I usually let them run the practices, while I do the hard stuff, like handling the umpires ()!!

That was all tongue-in-cheek BS'ing...I'm a low-tech redneck & I'm lucky if I send 10 texts in a month; not to mention I compose them at the speed of molasses!! I set my phone to silent during games & it only comes out for an emergency.

Wow, I hadn't read that article. They didn't name the umpire but when you are the only female umpire it kind of narrows it down.
