I actually just recieved my honigs zero gravity. It will be in the mail to be shipped back tommorow morning.

The good: Very lightweight, great protection, looks cool without a shirt on over it.

The bad: It's very, VERY bulky, expect to go up a shirt size. It looks like you've got football shoulder pads on. I'm 6'1 and it BARELY covers my sternum. (without the extension piece) It's a really small protector (length). Not a big fan of having my ribcage exposed, Never been hit there, but i've also never not had protection there, the stomache I could care less about. I think im going to return it and get a wilson davishield. anyone own one of these? Short and sweet, I know. Hopefully I shed some light on it for a few of you?

DO NOT GET A DAVISSHIELD!!

A pal of mine who does JUCO and H.S. showed me a bruise on his chest about nine inches in diameter from using that thing.

It is not suitable protection for a baseball umpire. (I'll bet Gerry Davi$ wouldn't be caught using one.)

I had a zero gravity for a while. ...sold it to a local HS umpire. Now that I have figured out how to get the right fit out of my Wilsons (gold, and platinum) I can not imagine using anything else.

Is there a reason why you have both a gold and platinum?

If memory serves correct, he bought the gold to replace the zero G and then won the platinum at a GD clinic as a prize for being one of the honour students.

Yay or nay?

Right, except I won the Platinum at the GD clinic just by being lucky, no merit involved.

Also, I had started out with a gold that I returned because i could not get it to fit right, then I learned something about adjusting the straps and, of course, the biggest secret...buy the right size! once I figured this stuff out... I got another gold.

you could have said you were the best in the class. We wouldn't have known!

So since you have both which one do you prefer?

The Umpire gods would have struck me down if i had said that...lol.

Which do I prefer....they are both great, but ...now that I have the correct size, I prefer the gold... nicer fit around the clavicle, feel very secure in the Gold's extra padding. The platinum is the smaller size, and, while it is larger than the 10.75 that is marked (about 11.75 or 12) the m-l gold feels more substantial.

Same scenario; Platinum first, and then a Gold.

The Gold is the preference, hands down. More coverage, better gap coverage and more comfortable. I loved the Platinum until I got into a Gold. I switch around, but the Gold's the only one I'll wear if I'm facing the big boys throwing the real gas.

I feel really locked in wearing the Gold I bought from Maz a couple of weeks ago. I have readjusted and taped the straps after every game so far, and it is fitting better each time.

I'm really concerned, however, with the fact that I have about 2" of my ribs exposed.

thats 2" too much for me , that is the main reason i havent bought either of the WV CP . too short in the torso area , if you are taller . remember you have to go to work the next day .
