I just received an e-mail from Hunter Wendelstedt, because I'm an MHSAA registered baseball official, offering the "Wendelstedt Rules and Interpretations Manual" for purchase. Does anyone have this manual? How does it compare to the Jaksa/Roder Rules/Interpretations manual? Any insight to Harry's manual would be appreciated. Thanks,

I ordered one plus a couple extra since they are hard to get. The other two were already claimed within a day of my order.

I haven't received them yet. Hopefully he gets them out the door soon.

I have the manual and love it. Like Mazz said Harry's hints are worth the price, but I also like some of the history of the rules in the Manual.

Comparing it to the J/R, which I also have the most current version of, I like it better over all. Both have a great index, but IMO the J/R is great for a quick references and cross-referencing rules sets.

But what I like better about the Wendelstedt Manual is in the words of the late Doug Harvey, it gives you, " the rest of the story."

Additionally, the Wendelstedt Manual is it is put together well. A bound book which is put together well and is well organized much better than the current versions of the BRD or J/R. It is very much like any other academic manual than the others out there.

Buy it you won't regret it.

The Wendelstedt Rules and Interpretations manual is an excellent tool for all umpires, regardless which level of baseball they work. It occurred to me that we have provided two deals (one to our Facebook friends, and one to MHSAA members in celebration of our regional clinic office opening in Michigan), yet we have failed to provide our friends at this associate forum similar offers. So, through 10/20, I would like to extend the offer of $37.50, including shipping and tax, to all of the umpires who visit here. I have attached a copy of the invoice. Your order can be submitted to our office by mail, fax, or phone. If you call, please note that this is the Umpire-Empire deal. I hope that this will provide you all with another tool in your umpiring arsenal.

My WUM came in the mail yesterday. Looks to be well put together, and I really like Harry's Hints and the Historical background info. I also liked the additional definitions that were added.

Earlier, I posted on another forum about it and there were several people against the purchase, so I waited, then when the price came down it was a risk I was willing to take and I'm glad that I did. It's a nice book. It will provide me with some reading when the snow flies up here.

Same here. I ordered mine last Friday, so here's hoping. Maybe I can put on the new Honig's shirts I ordered yesterday and read this, instead of working the 7 games I was supposed to have this weekend; which appear to be getting rained out... :rolleyes:

I have my last 3 games tomorrow ..... 77 and sunny .........on October 8th!! Michigan is enjoying a nice Indian Summer right now ....no rain til possibley Wed...what a great stretch!

My wife just called and told me the book came, so at least I've got that. She also asked what it was, why I needed it and how much it cost... I'm not sure I quite convinced her what an awesome deal I got!

It appears that the invoice has been removed. But W said he would honor the price through 10/20 so if you just paypal that amount to him and specify that this is the umpire-empire deal and be sure to include your shipping info, I imagine he would ship it right out to you.
