what did he see?????? if you look at the replay from behind the catcher has the back side of the glove to the ump so he doesnt even see the ball till f2 takes it out of his mit to show him he has it :HS

It might just be instict because I AM an umpire, but I'm giving the ump the benefit of the doubt... There had to have been something he saw to call a bobble... I don't like that he gets right in the catchers face and starts jumping up and down, like he is excited though...

Taking it out of his mitt?

Sorry ...that's terrible...

And WOW is he close to that play, ...

At 1:12 which is when he was making that call, you can see the ball adjust from the edge of the mitt to the pocket of it. That is the exact moment I believe he made that call. I think he believes it rolled from the pocket to the tip and back down during the tag. Remember, the interp of a tag changed where the ball and body have to be controlled throughout the entire tag play. Technically, I can where he believes the ball was just rolling around freely but I don't think he has enough evidence to make that call. Plus, he may have thought it was rolling from his hand to the glove.

Not sure, but he is too close for me but not for him. They say to get as close as you can on a tag play but I don't want to be that close. Not sure what he saw, but I saw an out. I don't see the bobble he believes he saw. But, I can see where he thinks it was.

He is.

Of course, it looks to me like the runner beat the tag anyway. :D

The runners foot was up in the air...never touched home.

Oddly enough, Iossogna had a similar call the other day at third!
