  1. Yes, they where the ones at the MLB one day camp. I'm sorry for putting down the wrong name your correct it is the "the rule book" And they do seem to do a fair amount of business. And they are centrally located for us down in SoCal. What is the contact info on their card?
  2. But we do have the "unofficial" honigs retailer in the Right Call. Which is located in Whittier CA. I'm sure someone on here can give the contact info. But Ann Arbor is still home. And Jeff, being a transplant from MI to CA it truly is a blessing. But I do miss a white Christmas.
  3. My gear bag would disagree with you. I've owned wilson dynalite and titanium, allstar, Mizuno, and was forced to wear Easton and Rawlings in college. And out of all them my Nike out performs them day in and day out. Great piece of equipment. Superior quality, and light and comfy beyond reproach. So if you ask me it should go on the list and if Pete wants to look at one to compare just send me an email and I'm sure we can work something out. :meditation:
  4. Pete, here is my vote. Traditional Mask: Nike Titanium Helmet: Allstar MVP4000ti Chest Protector: Wilson Platinum w/ delta flex harness Leg Guards: Wilson Pro Umpire Accessory: Oakley Polarized Radar sunglasses Shirt: 2011 Honigs Pants: Honigs Poly wool Shoe: Plate- Reebok, Base - Nike TR1.3 Training Aid: CCA Manual
  5. I've had the 450's a few years back. There not bad. But I love my Reeboks lows! Comfy, great traction and easy to clean and shoe laces don't break! Also if you buy the all blacked out version and spit shine them they look pretty sweet.
  6. I can attest to the garbage that McDavid puts out. As a retail sports manager we had more problems with them then any other company. Meaning they came back from customers before the 30 day return policy was up more than anyone else. Also They use a thinner thread, then anyone else to my knowledge as well. Personally I uses Nike Pro Combat for my shorts, and Shock Dr. for my tights. Simply because I like having the cup pocket built in. Just a personal preference that UA and Nike don't provide. But both Nike and UA make quality products that seemingly last longer than the competition. (Mcdavid, C8, Smitty, Muellar, etc.) Buy quality the first time and you can never go wrong. Just my $0.02
  7. I already added 2 clinics. Will add a few more in the next couple of days. This should be a great add to our forum!
  8. Already started adding some local clinics. Someone should really make sure that the rest of the forum knows that this new feature exists.
  9. I completely concur. A great bunch of instructors. The only thing I wish was simply put more time. I know, I know everyone always says that, however.... I would prefer to have more field time, or situation time then have "war story Q & A" however I know this is part of the appeal of these types of clinics.
  10. " but the fabric is unforgiving. When you pull it on or off--especially off" This sounds indicative to the older Honigs shirt material (circa 08/09). I wear almost exclusively Honigs and their new material is much the same as the smitty you described and the UA shirts as well. Very forgiving and looks and feels great. It maybe time to call Honigs and see whats available. This is of course if you want to keep a shirt for more than 3 uses? And still look "acceptable" to your college buddies.
  11. steve, just go to olga the little tailor off of barton rd just next to reche canyon. All the cops go to her, she does great work, fast and cheap. Took in my pants and shirts when I lost alot of weight. Use what you got and make them look good until the "new" poly wools come out.
  12. I would also add a section for Clinic information. Make something like an U-E calendar. I think it would be helpful for guys. Just a thought.
  13. no closet in the garage, sorry keeping the gear inside where it has climate control! not a fan of the shock dr bag seen a few just not for me. team wendy i will buy as soon as they go to leather! The plate coat is on the list of things to get, however I guess I could tell her exactly where and in what size. Hmm..... ok I guess we have a winner.
  14. So I have a problem. I know I'm a gear junkie.... no chirping chris! So my g/f asks me umpire gear do you want for xmas.... uh.... well i humor her and go look in my closet. HSM, 2 titanium mask, 3 chest protector, 4 pair of plate shoes, 4 pairs of base, a lot of hats, a whole lot of shirts, 10 poly wools (5 each) nike undershirts, tights, 3 majestic therma base jackets, countless ball bags and odd and end accessories, and just yesterday I ordered a new wind breaker. I have pretty much every dvd and book worth having. The only thing i could think of really was a new belt. So now I'm at a loss for words. I told her to pay for a clinic gift card if there is such a thing. So whats in your closet?
  15. Sounds good sir, Just PM and let me know your next date that you want me to join you on. Best to all of you on this rainy weekend in socal.
  16. Steve, glad you enjoyed our time together. I will continue to help you grow in anyway I can, as I'm sure you will continue to do for me. Hope this taste gives you the push you need to take you to your next level. Just got done with the MLB clinic in compton, and you should go next year. At least for the single day if nothing else. Great opportunity to learn, and see what a portion of our socal brotherhood looks like. See you on a field again soon, hopefully before Sacramento. Best,
  17. Lou, my uncle went through something similiar to you a few years back, and it only truly goes away with rest. Now I know you love the game, but when your body starts talking this loudly you need to listen to it. I've seen and been on your side of the coin when it comes to injuries holding you back. Rest, and some much deserved time away from the game is the best thing right now. It's suppose to rain tomorrow, and next weekend as well. Take this as a sign and give your body the much needed rest it needs.
  18. Best Traditional Mask Nike Titanium Best Chest Protector Wilson Platinum (with delta flex harness) Best Shin Guards Wilson Black triple knee Best Shirt Honigs Best Pants Honigs Poly Wool Best Plate Shoes Reebok Field Magistrate Best Base Shoes Nike Air Max TR1.3 Best Umpire Accessory Nike Combat Pro Hyper Dri Shirts or Dry-Lo Ball Bags Best Training Aid Maximizing the 2 Umpire System or any clinic really
  19. Heck yea if that works let us know. I'll buy 10 of them for my Umpires program.
  20. Pitty I'm now located on the west coast instead of Michigan. Any plans of expanding out to the other shores?
  21. Good looking alternative to the Diamond. It looks alot sleeker and more streamlined then the diamond. Only knock I have on it, I still don't like easton pads or nylon pads in general. So I would be switching those out for all leather padding. Just my $0.02
  22. I think we should be able to have our own personal gallery on our profile and have a section to share with others, or have a group gallery as well. And if anyone has a clinic and wants to put up pics that would be a place to do it as well. Same can be true of new products coming out to the market, or equipment questions.
  23. What about having a photo gallery section for personal and group or both? Or making so members are able to add what level of ball you umpire on your profile?
  24. I agree with hardshell over soft. I'd also add on there some learning materials for the league as well. DVD's, Books etc. Also if you don't already have one a really cheap video camera so record and teach from.
  25. He is a lawyer who is on the board yes, and he happens to be the council for the league as well. So to answer your question caralinablue both.
