Holy smokes! They look like diamond sort of maybe a collectors thing?
  3. I actually just sold a pair of these for $150, they were only used two weekends, total of like five games. I paid $220 and that was 195 plus shipping. Since my feet are actually like 12 and 1/4 and 12 and 3/8, I took a foul ball straight to my big toe and my doctor said I had a bruised bone. I had this weird red twirl that went around my toe and started at a big red spot right at the spot where it got hit. It sucked. My jerk partner that day took my indicator and asked the audience if they knew how to fix it, because I had x punched two batters out in that half inning (after my toe got hit) on strike 2. Embarrassing and peeved off that's pretty much how I thought that day, I'm just glad I had a second pair of plate shoes because I took the next plate as well and I was hobbling around like an idiot. The following week I put all my size 12 shoes up for sale, how I met Trevor

  5. Solid steel for $500????? They cray cray
  6. So like do Japanese shoes come in larger than 30cm size?
  7. I'm not sure if this is the proper way of doing it, but this is what I've been doing recently when play the infield is playing in. In two men with runners on 2nd or 2nd and 3rd, I'm actually lined up about 5 ft from the bag between 1st and 2nd. With a runner on first, I'm actually in a deep B, closer in to the line between second base and the pitching mound. If I'm doing this wrong, please let me know. See images: red= 2 man umpire, blue= runners
  8. October training in Riverside California registration is now open, I have nothing to do with them other than that I will be going and I'm just trying to let other people know that they just opened the registration. So if you go to two classes right now at $600 which is the regular price of one class. First week is three man Second week is Three Men and two men hybrid Third week is four man
  9. Forgot to post these yesterday, and so far I love it
  10. That was the unboxing... I will take a photo of it when I get back to the car, currently at an NCS tourney site in SD
  11. Finally got it
  12. I know McDavis used to make some that went all the way round your thigh for top and inner protection... also shock doctor used to have a 705 catcher's sliding shorts with inner thigh protection as well is the re anything on the marketthat goes all around your thigh? i also dont like the way that the cup holders on most shorts as i wear my cu a bit lower and i cant tell you how many times its saved me from agony, the foul ball bouncers are the worste i just bought a mcdavis hex "sheet" i think its 3 foot by 4 inches, and i'm going to convert some shorts and tights to have this before you say anything i already have force3 tights (got from ump attire) and the force3 sent me sliding shorts instead (never replied to any of my emails for over a year after which i just gave up tryonh to reach them)... i do use the shorts on hotter days, but i prefer the tights
  13. for low profile... and i would recooment wearing long sleeve... McDavis hex are nice https://www.mcdavidusa.com/products/hex-forearm-sleeves-pair?utm_source=affiliate&ranMID=45068&ranEAID=msYS1Nvjv4c&ranSiteID=msYS1Nvjv4c-vEo20ZPzHYB9BfX.CMhKHw&utm_content=714929&utm_source=Bing+Rebates+on+non-Edge+browsers+and+coupons&utm_medium=Affiliates&utm_campaign=acquisition
  14. So they still don't cover the gut like the as cobalt... Nope they dont
  15. I had heard that it was supposed to be like the Force 3 with plates, the looks of it it's nothing at all like what they were saying. By they, I mean some umpires that I work with. It would have been really cool if Wilson had figured out to extend the bottom a little bit more. The week that I changed from the original Platinum to the Cobalt I took three gut shots and didn't feel a thing, whereas if I had been wearing the Platinum I would have felt every last one.
  16. Yes, the balls will "ting" off of it and it should remain stably on, I never feel a thing, rarely has it ever twisted even slightly and I'm doing highschool ATM, it's possible that may happen more often in college, once I start working those
  17. You maybe using the very first bar to wrap the harness on, if you actually wrap it through the second bar and then bring it over the second bar and the first bar it'll probably work better. See image I drew for better description
  18. Yes, unless home is up, you always play the bottom of the inning. If home is up or ahead in runs, it's ball game. Just be glad that days of drop Dead are almost gone, I haven't seen a drop dead in a while. I much prefer no new inning. Even though sometimes it can make things go longer than planned or scheduled. Drop dead can create issues where coaches that are not paying attention to the time and were losing last inning, but are now winning this inning don't know to strike out as fast as possible before the time limit expires. With drop deads the scores revert to the previous inning. Once again no new inning you're correct you start the top of the inning if home is ahead you can call it at the beginning of the bottom of the inning, however if home is down you complete that inning.
  19. Got it, ok then I was definitely wrong
  20. Thank you, I really appreciate it
  21. I was under the impression that it's 2 bases from pitch, if throw, then I would have still placed the runner on 2nd as the fielder wouldn't be throwing the ball to an already occupied base at the time of throw, I still think 2nd base is correct
  22. So I work in california, where they do not observe the courtesy runner rule. I've been trying to find it in the rule book and having trouble doing so, though I do find it online. One place says it's 3.1.1 n another place says it's in the appendix, another place at 8.2.5 and 8.2.6, I found another place that says 8.9.1 through 8.9.5 Where exactly in the rule book is the courtesy runner Rule and the reason I ask is because I've talked to several coaches and they're all interested in having that available to them and they can discuss it in the postseason CIF meeting to try to bring that rule to California, but I can't help them if I don't know the exact location of the rule. Honestly think it's a rule that should be taken advantage of as it's awesome it doesn't burn out all your substitutes pinch running for catchers or pitcher and it still allows them to hit the field after running one or more innings for the pitcher or the catcher.
  23. It's the first place in play in the infield so it's technically second base not for third base that you would give him, as the ball is being thrown to first before he had occupied first base. So he gets second base not third base. Start from the time of the pitch where the runners are when you allocate bases at that point in time.
  24. I messaged/emailed ump-attire to find out the difference and they replied that the f3s are a bit heavier, but you can also remove the padding to wash them. I plan on buying the f3 shins, much like the all Star cobalt cp as it has the same Velcro off pads that can be washed
  25. Um... Well it's awesome that you got used plate shoes for 20 bucks, however I would definitely put them through the wash and seriously try to sanitize them. What you may not be aware of is that fungus from one foot can transfer to another very easily through used shoes. Being said I would recommend plate shoes for everything for 10 and up. Just because you happen to have bad pitching at 13 doesn't mean that you're not going to run into really good pitching. I've umpired games for 13u where the pictures were in the high 60s in low 70s. Just depends on the skill level of the pictures not so much the age group. If you can find them, look for Reebok magistrates, or Reebok zig-tech magistrates. In my opinion those are by far the best plate shoes you can get, fairly light and very mobile. Otherwise you could go pentagon or three and twos if you're looking for a more sport type shoe. As the New Balances in my opinion are more of a stationary or small work area umpire's plate shoe. Would stay away from sneakers, as you never know when a foul ball is going to hit your toe the wrong way. Recently was doing a 13U tournament for perfect game in Huntington Beach California, and I was wearing size 12s which are a very snug fit for my feet. Doctor said that even though I was wearing steel toes that the foul ball bruised m the bone of my big toe. He wanted me to stay off my feet for 2 to 3 weeks, but as I was working high school games I did not. I bandaged it up with the self-adhesive tape bandage as tight as I could, and I did this during the games. When I wasn't working games I would take it off and after a couple weeks the pain went away and so did the bruise that was on my big toe. If you don't wear steel toe plate shoes, your toes let alone the arch of your foot could get completely demolished by errant foul ball. My best advice though for real, don't skimp on plate shoes. The more comfortable the better, and some of the best ones are no longer available and hard to find
