Played LL up thru Legion Ball. I was a team Mgr in Legion and could only play non district games but my batting ave. for both of the years was over 600 each year. Coach did not like me I swear it was cause I was a decent hitter ( for average ) Tried out in college fall ball and got invited back to try out again in the spring.. Never went back.

LL Instructs us a firm crisp snap point and as its snapping "PLAY" is announced Least thats what we got in Bristol last I was there 3? weeks ago..

Well my point is that now in this day and age we have A LOT more turnover of the younger aged 10U and 12U coaches typically they start out as 10U or lower and progress up with the age of their kids. Due to this, at least around here, We have a lot of 10U and sometimes now 12U coaches whom jump in as coaches and not Managers, whom do not understand A LOT of silly stuff ie infield fly rule, turning left after over running 1st. What an uncaught 3rd strike is, the list goes on and on and on. So I prefer to help them along in the Fall league as its an instructional and "normalizing" league ( get those 7 yr olds used to 10yr old pitching same with 9's with the 12U and etc) I do this because I would rather get the coach and or Mgr up to speed and better understanding so that come spring. I have less game stoppages when the silly stuff occurs

Oh I agree He should be getting out of dodge but I am not gonna penalize some 10yr old who just witnessed a high and tight fast ball from the 6 foot 12 yr old, and he just soiled his pants and is standing there dumbstruck nearly in tears and neither the catcher nor the pitcher were hindered by him being in the box at the time of the play

If he did not hinder a throw or a tag at all I have no INT. If he is standing in the Left box and the ball gets away to the 1st base side the throw comes in and he did not hinder P1 in anyway that's not INT if the runner is safe. If the ball went behind the batter than yes if the ball went straight back I could see an argument for INT but to me it would depend upon placement of the throw and P1 and P2 from where they threw it from

Ok yeah and what I am also thinking of is if R2 steals home.

I'm gonna go with 7.09C here and say yes Interference occurred . Based on OP's post Had the tag not touched the batter and R3 had slid in safe and the tag was late. No interference so long as the batter did not move to interfere or accidently move and interfered with any throw to the pitcher.

Hokie I will check in here and say look at the place and level. Fall Ball Majors. Yeah I think we need to do anything and everything here at Fall Ball to teach not only the kids. But the Coaches and Managers as well. "Hey coach there is a lot more to why that is a quick pitch. Lets chat about that between innings please" OP being 18 I am positive you being 18 probably have the app on your phone. Use it and get used to the ins and outs of how it works and how it searches If you do not have the app get it, its cheap and it auto updates every time they publish a change so no need or worry you have outdated stuff. Also encourage all the coaches to get it as well. They should learn Rules 1 thru 9. Especially 9.1c 🙃 But as other stated here the EJ time for me would have been when he walked by and made the blown call statement. He said it in your area it was meant for you. Last thing I will say is thank you for being out there. We need more and more younger umpires getting into LL even if they are only there for 3 to 4 years we need it. Maybe 1 in 100 stay for 20 odd years So keep it up and Thank You

The catcher could have blocked his view but if he does see evidence like you pointed out yes he can change the call.

I did But I will point out hey if the guy is new yeah he kicked it. He will undoubtedly if he has a decent mentor learn from his mistake. No need to beat him up about it, its only LL just pray he has a good mentor that pushes him to learn from the mistake. Also Cliff we need umpires so go take a class get some gear, get a back ground check and get behind the plate.

I know I saw guys doing that at the Regionals and WS this year and I was like Hmmm they changed it. Sure enough I asked about it in class and was told picking up that left arm like I used to was ok as they USED to teach that but they prefer it be left down now. Sigh something I need to unlearn LOL

Not a knock just some different looks for things. 1. Box stance, previously the box stance in the slot was heel toe looking in at the plate, Also doing your best to get to eye level at the top of the batters zone. Now its Even So you are looking out straight and you are at a comfortable level for you when you lock in as repeatable as possible same height no matter the batter. Of course the catcher may change that for you if he/she is too tall. I would think 85% of the LL umps out there wont have any issues still 2. Strike calls. I was previously told bring the left arm up parallel to the ground when making a strike hammer call with your right arm. Now Nope leave that left arm "silent" leave it down at your side quiet and not moving Just the hammer with your right arm now. 3. There is a heal toe stance where you pick up one arm and tuck it in front I cannot for the life of me recall which arm inner or outer sorry. I did not pay it much mind as I wont be doing it. Only having one arm to lock does not strike me as being stable enough for me. others sure ok but my fat arse nah.

In the spirit of the rule they must attempt to avoid contact. ie go around or under a tag Yes contact being made is not an out I never said it was... where did I imply they were out for contacting anyone?

LL is slide or avoid contact.. that's the only thing they say about it. Other than the No head 1st slides going into a base Head 1st is ok going back but never going fwd.. Wish they would kill that one too.

Yeah well I am lucky to afford my 12$ insulated coffee travel mugs after how much I blew on gear this year. Maybe next year I will look into one of those fancy water bottles...

Well I would suggest just using a decent double zipper zip lock bag. That’s what I carry my shower soap in when I have to motel it. Never had any issues with them breaking or leaking

Max how do they package it and is it liquid or powder or flake?
