Is the umpire supposed to call time out instantly?
Velho replied to Side Retired's question in Ask the Umpire
and it's by mutual agreement by those sophisticated teams to apply it equally for both sides. Two teams that don't know any better / have lost the plot / apply a hypocritical inconsistent viewpoint leads to this angst. -
Well, that's what CCU's F1 thought he was doing. There's no evidence that he was actually doing It. Correct (I didn't hear any trashcans myself). Thanks for clarifying.

Not arguing it should or shouldn't have been used here but we need an intermediate penalty with teeth like technical foul or 15 yard unsportsmanlike. What would be so wrong with an Offensive out penalty?

It depends on your perspective. Officiating is judgmental, and not just in baseball, see what is and isn't called a foul in any youth basketball game for example. It seems cut and dry from the sidelines, but it's not. Further, the scenario you raise is judgmental by rule. And, it's so far down the list of things an umpire needs to know, that it's not given more than a passing mention at umpire clinics (Pro school, maybe, I haven't gone. But it got a minute, if that, at the 7 day Little League school I went to and we certainly don't cover it at the 4 hour trainings I instruct at every year). Lastly, over 5 million kids ages 6-17 play baseball (second to basketball at 7.3 million). That's a lot of games to cover, which requires a lot of officials, and the level of training varies widely. I guess it just comes down to our expectations. If the kids played perfectly it would be easier for the umpire to be prefect. But neither of those things are going to happen. Great coaches prepare their teams for that fact. Good coaches teach the lessons learned. Worse case, kids learn that life doesn't always go your way and there are things outside your control but, being mindful and prepared can tilt the odds in your favor - which is the real reason for youth sports. Hopefully, with that perspective, the game won't seem so confounding. -
I think LSU 3B coach was picking up CC F1's pitches and giving signs to the LSU batters.

In 3 man flyballs are shared, with PU only having LF/RF to the line when U1 or U3 is in B / C. "Anyone" is a strong world but... anyone who is LL Regional quality will do that because it's more like 4 man done at the Region (I say that having worked all month, including 3 man, with a 2025 Williamsport ump and two 2025 San Bernadino umps plus, I have little doubt Dennis would disagree). I have what I consider "the simple and easy" 3 man cheatsheet I've been meaning to compile and will try to document shortly. I was born and raised in Seattle and my son is a Duck. I knew you sound like good folk.

No. Seems odd, I know.

Leaving early is too low in the priority stack to make comprises. Revisiting our baseball priority list (with some notations for this positioning): Balls & Strikes (including check swings) Fair or Foul (including off the batter in the box) Catch or No Catch (helping PU with U3K) Safe or Out (Getting in position for a snap backpick) LL being unique so Leaving Early isn't on that list but it's safe to say it's below all the above. (I can follow softball doing something like this because of the pejorative significant depostic penalty of an out on leaving early). Compliments on the creativity and investment of energy to think things through. As much as folks (okay - me ) may criticize certain LL mechanics, there is solid reasoning under 99.9% of them. I'd suggest getting the mechanics down as taught (while being curious) and then, once you're at a high proficiency, start teasing apart why this vs why that. This forum is an excellent place to do that and hopefully you can find someone local that's highly knowledgeable and will engage with you in those explorations (though they are harder to find than one would hope). I'm happy to help however I can (in forum, DM, phone call if needed, etc.). Keep working. P.S. where are you located?

New Mock Neck Compression Shirts Available

I can appreciate that and not trying to hate. For me, in those pictures, it jumped out. I'm one of those that doesn't want brand logos on anything and takes the badges off their cars. -

In what context? Leaving early, tag ups, or something else?

What's the basis for WRIM decision to prioritize 6.03(a)(3) over 6.01(a)(3) and 6.01(a)5)? 6.01(a) It is interference by a batter or a runner when: 6.03(a) A batter is out for illegal action when:

No, what was said was incorrect. Lack of intent is NOT nothing. Fair. He was half and half. You have a wealth of knowledge. How you choose to engage can make that wealth of knowledge worthless.
-
Incorrect. Incorrect. Incomplete and incorrect are not the same thing.
-
That's nothing. There doesn't seem to be a play being interfered with.

Likewise (but just once, I don't have Idaho money). However, I looked and the seller I used is not currently offering them.

"Time out. Don't put your hands on him and help him up" And now you owe me for having to listen to Ravetch.

Agreed (though appreciate @johnnyg08 posting it for discussion). This is in the category of "coach, it's a good idea to let the foul ball touch something or get past the base before grabbing it". In isolation, a non event. As a perpetual habit of the coach though it can lead to a bad outcome when they grab one that could have gone fair because of that rote behavior.

From watching it live, I believe U3 is the one who called time - as shown in the video above.

I think you mean "There".
