Can't agree more. Having options has replaced ball bearings as the key to the future.

Pre-pitch the batters' feet need to be within the outer edge of the lines, i.e. nothing beyond the line. When making contact with the ball, any feet on the ground need to be at least in contact with the line, i.e. a heel touching the line but the rest of the foot beyond the line is allowed.

The need for 'reasonably catchable' in NFHS has been debated on the site. I'm not one to say if it is or isn't (don't do high school) but this 2010 NFHS Interpretation doesn't have a catchable throw test: http://www.rgvbb.com/2010_NFHS_BB_Rules_Interpretations.pdf SITUATION 7: B1 lays down a bunt that is fielded by F2 in fair territory a few feet in front of home plate. As B1 is 60 feet from home base, he is running outside the running lane with one foot completely in fair ground and not touching the lines of the running lane. F2 fields the ball and (a) attempts to throw to first but throws high into right field as he tries not to hit B1, or (b) does not attempt a throw. RULING: B1 is required to be in the running lane the last 45 feet to first base when the ball is fielded and thrown from an area behind him. In (a), this is interference and B1 is out and the ball is declared dead. In (b), since there was no throw, there is no interference. F2 is not required to hit B1 to demonstrate that B1 is out of the running lane, but a throw must be made for the interference to be declared. (8-4-1g)

He had pitched to 4 batters but point is the same: 3 batters faced minimum had been reached. 14 seconds in has 2 views pre-pitch that don't seem to leave anyting out. Runner is moving but not in a way I'd call intentional to get a call. Can definitely see how that would be done though (especially HS and younger) so good call out. Seems 3BC was playing the OBS call by sending R2 (I don't think he couldn't have expected him to be safe on the throw).

They should never let him coach again. I'd bet this is a problem they didn't solve 5+ years ago (or maybe another league did if he's new to yours).

Good on ya for those that ask the catcher. One thing to bear in mind is that they may not say 'no' because you are an authority figure. Maybe a good chance to practice reading the body language and 'micro expressions' when they say 'yes'.

Curiosity question (and not picking on you): If this in retrospect having researched and thought on it? Or was this your conclusion in the moment? 100% Real example that comes to mind was a pitcher takes a good one off the shin (but not a break or anything). I started quickly walking to the mound shooting daggers at 1B OC to signal you're stopping right there.

These are always going to be HTBT but I think there is a sliding scale for age/competition level. Knocked out 12U is a stoppage every time.
