  1. Yep. That's assault. If school officials, coaches or parents try to get away from that, they're complicit. That should mark the end of their football careers.
  2. I would agree U1 had a pretty good look at it and he as positioned right there. It was just interesting to me that the ball was in front of the bag and U1 made the call. Morales was an idiot for not running it out...
  3. Your browser does not support iframes. Is the plate umpires first responsibility here the runner from third? Not sure why the foul call isn't his.
  4. A brief aside from the cool rigs... For those that have a sunshield, does it do anything for you? Since I always have a hat on, I don't really see the point. Maybe I'm missing something. I will admit, there is a coolness factor - it looks good!
  5. That was awesome! Love the locker room!
  6. Welcome!
  7. Got to go to game 1 last fall. Great seats and a great time. I took the pic just to show my view.
  8. When in doubt, call 'em out!
  9. PU was in perfect position and he gets paid the big bucks so I'd say foul too. I actually thought it was foul as well looking at the angle from behind. Hedley Even seems to move the ball back slightly as if he were "framing" it to make it look fair.
  10. Free stuff = Good!
  11. One of my hobbies that I haven't been able to do for way too long. This is Grand Cayman, East End about 15 years ago. 04 Cayman.bmp
  12. It's called Hyponatremia. Per the Mayo Clinic: Hyponatremia is a condition that occurs when the level of sodium in your blood is abnormally low. Sodium is an electrolyte, and it helps regulate the amount of water that's in and around your cells. In hyponatremia, one or more factors — ranging from an underlying medical condition to drinking too much water during endurance sports — causes the sodium in your body to become diluted. When this happens, your body's water levels rise, and your cells begin to swell. This swelling can cause many health problems, from mild to life-threatening. From what I remember in a Bio class many years ago, your heart requires a chemical reaction between sodium and potassium to beat. Take too much of the sodium out of the equation via sweating and it becomes an issue. @‌kylehutson Your body may have responded by not sweating so that it could keep enough sodium for your heart to keep beating. Definitely not a good situation. I mix water and sports drinks during the hot days for this very reason. I know they have sugar but they're not my sole source of hydration. I take electrolyte capsules too. You can get them at vitamin/health stores. They're used a lot by marathon runners.
  13. Took this one a few years ago at my older son's JV game. I thought the clouds and the lights made a great backdrop and the pic didn't disappoint.
  14. From the overhead view of the first one, It looks like Corey Blaser is over the plate and not in the slot. IMO if he's in the slot, that ball misses him completely. Maybe his vision was obscured there somehow... Those shots on the side of the mask really suck though. I'd rather take it dead center so the energy is dispersed evenly through the mask (like the 2nd one with Mark Ripperger).
  15. Is it disheartening to anyone else that a coach that has been in baseball long enough to achieve this level is still trying to argue balls and strikes...?
  16. Be early. Be professional. Be teachable. Be confident.
  17. I just signal safe too. It's on the BR to be aware of D3K.
  18. Sounds like a new nickname is warranted @‌jkumpire - B.O.S! Pronounced Boss of course.
  19. I was done when I saw the DB with his hat on backwards acting completely unprofessional - "not even close". When did calling balls and strikes become a venue for a wannabe entertainer??? Plus no mention of how accurate the MLB guys are with their zones. Add that they didn't show anything from actual players that had to use the system. They only had the DB advocating for it. The final straw was the insinuation of bias. D.. O.. N.. E..
  20. As the parent of a pitcher and as an umpire concerned for the wellbeing of all players on the field, this is my worst nightmare. I haven't seen one of these yet while officiating and I pray I don't. As for the batboy incident, it breaks my heart. There was another incident like this earlier in the spring which caused the complex where I work most of my tournaments to prohibit ball boys. It sucks because I always get a kick out of a little dude booking it out after a bat like they're chasing down a 20 dollar bill. Prayers for the kid that swung the bat too. That's a life altering event for him as well - and not in a good way.
  21. 14... On pick offs, if the tag is being held on the runner, I just announce "Let him up". The well coached kids just climb the ladder regardless. Seems like as this year went on, I was hearing "climb the ladder" a lot more so hopefully this is getting around.
  22. This is a nice break from the normal complaint that catchers can't catch... Hard to expect that kind of throw at that level though.
  23. That would be another good topic - Avoiding Burnout.
  24. Epo what...? Looked like a good call to me. In real time that's a great call! Those are some of my favorite calls to make too. Seeing a good throw coming down and knowing that it's going to be a close play, I love that stuff!
