From what I looked at yesterday, I was thinking you had some good quick movements to cover the ball. But slow down on the strikes. I wonder what I would look like on video doing baseball.

If the HBP goes high after watching one land then EJ every time. Hit him in the hip and then we should be good with the warning.

That's the way to do it.

Dizzy Dean mechanics have us in the standard inside B and C positions, no matter the field size.

Starting in on the zone at the plate meeting? That's never going to end well.

Baseball: Buena head coach Harry Grose 'feels bad' about 52-3 win
ZebraStripes replied to th3's topic in High School
It looks like Georgia has changed their rule since I was in high school 21 years ago. Back then it was 20 after 3, 15 after 4, 10 or 12 (I forget which) after 5. We played one school 4 times in my time there and made it to the 4th inning once. It was always a good day for the offensive stats. My worst game, came this year and fortunately had a clock involved. 42-0. The winning team was swinging at anything that they could reach, and there was not many pitches that were in the same area code as the plate so most were hitting pitches way inside or way outside. One base at a time in an 18 run 3rd inning. It is not a good idea to get the athletic kid that has never played baseball before to play 3rd base in a travel league. I had never witnesses double digit errors on a single player until that night. There were about 8 of them in the 3rd inning and half of them he got no leather on and they rolled between his legs. -
In games like that...you look forward to a 20 run lead in the 3rd and be done with it.

touched ball in foul territory is going to stay foul

If it is close and you have it as a swing, make the call, there is no need to ask for help. You do this on all close ones?

In an effort to educate myself: 7.05 (a) To home base, scoring a run, if a fair ball goes out of the playing field in flight and he touched all bases legally; or if a fair ball which, in the umpires judgment, would have gone out of the playing field in flight, is deflected by the act of a fielder in throwing his glove, cap, or any article of his apparel; (f) Two bases, if a fair ball bounces or is deflected into the stands outside the first or third base foul lines; or if it goes through or under a field fence, or through or under a scoreboard, or through or under shrubbery or vines on the fence; or if it sticks in such fence, scoreboard, shrubbery or vines;

Ball was touched in fair territory by F9, it is then a fair ball no matter what. The ball went over the fence without touching the ground or anything to render it as not having been in flight when it left the field. The ball did not hit the ground and it was not thrown, so I have this is a four base award. Cansecoesque other than it going on the other side of a foul pole after bouncing off the player. So @ZebraStripes, if a line drive hits F5's glove (fair ball) and is deflected into the 3B line stands (in flight), would that also be a 4-base award? Based on my memory of rules, I'd lean towards yes. Based on my experience, that would be very little foul territory for a F5 to deflect in such a manner, but I'm sure stranger things have happened.

MLB will insist it is Aquafina.

I'd agree he checked the swing, but I have seen less called for a swing over the years.

I do hope you will reconsider. I'm just a newbie here and I have taken a lot from your posts and experience. I plan to start calling high school baseball (I've been calling high school football for 6 years) next spring and having umpires such as yourself to go over things with is quite beneficial. Again, I do hope you will reconsider and continue to post.

I'm down here in Georgia so we don't have a lot of cold weather, but what gloves work well with handling a ball and an indicator?

Defensive team can appeal a missed base, leaving a base early on a tag, or a checked swing. Unless I am having a brain fart right now, the offensive team can not appeal any play. They can argue, but there is no appeal. Unless you consider a missed swipe tag or a pulled foot? Thats something the offense can ask the umpire to get help on. well there you go, brain fart indeed. I need to be on a ball field...

Slow the call down and see exactly where the ball is. With another runner on, the catcher should pull the ball into a throwing position after the tag unless there are two outs.
