I wear contacts also. When my contacts start to get blurry, I close my eyes and simulate a yawn. Produces tears almost everytime. I also keep a bottle of resetting drops in my pocket and wear either safety glasses or sunglasses depending on the time.

I think you called it correctly.

What if the bat is on the ground in fair territory and is contacted by the ball?

I wear a pair of Franklin compression shorts from WalMart. Then my nutty buddy, then a jOck, then a pair of Under Armour tights. Started wearing the tights after my knees got rubbed raw by the shinguards.

Had my first scrimmage last night. Game started with the temp at 40 and the wind gusting over 30mph, steady at 25mph. It was COLD!!!! Game ended with the temp at 33 and the same wind. It was brutal. The best place to be was behind the plate with all your gear on. It sucked to be the BU. I'm in Southern Texas. It's not supposed to be that cold for baseball.

Annual... Game Fees Question... Let's see who got a raise or not

If given a choice, I would rather work the plate. To me, it is more fun. Bases and plate pay the same by the way. -
In my opinion, its one thing if he is in uniform, and another if he is in plain clothes. No reason to carry on the hip in plain clothes. Conceal it.

I squeak when I walk, so I will stick with my $35 Walmart duffel. 2 large compartments, wheels, telescoping handle, 3 small pockets. Holds all my gear and will hold a few shirts/pants as well.

And after 2 hours, we don't have a regulation game yet.

I leave everything in my truck and hide my keys somewhere on the vehicle.

Wow. If I were the coach, I might protest. There are many ways to "solve" the problem by the players. If I were the pitcher or catcher, I wouldn't require the umpire's help.
-
Anyone up for chatting during the game/s? gmail, yahoo, or windows live. PM.

Nice. I wish more coaches were like that. Maybe he is an umpire moonlighting as a coach. :hopmad:

I fold my caps. Flip the bill up and then pull the back of the cap over the bill. Hard to explain, but works. Caps come out looking fabulous.

Got it. Good advice. I will have to remember and try that. Watch at the halfway and as you make the call move closer. Perception is everything.

Wow. Don't punish the kids. How about banning all the parents from the games for the rest of the year and replacing the coaches on both teams. Also ban the offending coaches and dads for life. Never allow them to coach or watch a game. Also extend it to other sports. Or how about POLICE? Press some charges and make sure those parents don't get involved in any more youth sports. Sorry, I just get really aggravated at parents that act like 3 year olds when watching their kids play.

STRIKE THREE. Next. I'm glad I'm not that guy.

Good call. I don't see ANY argument here. That is a textbook out of the running lane INT call. One question though, should Carlson have gone so far up the 1B line? I was under the impression that you should only go about halfway. Not downing the guy as he showed great hustle, just want to do it right if ever evaluated.

After watching the video, I caught a few clips on MLB network. He was all over the place. Like was said above, I didn't watch the game but can see how his zone was all over the place. Being in a different spot tends to do that. And no, I am not taking his side.

Welcome. You will find a wealth of knowledge here.

I wear cheapos. They tend to last a looooooong time. Every time I get a good more expensive pair of sunglasses, they get scratched or broken. With the cheapos, its like they are indestructible.
-
Exactly. When a professional player makes a bone-head mistake like that, just stay in the dugout. Take out that wrath on the runner. There should be no reason to have to make that call. It shouldn't even be close. DUMB baserunning. You would think that after Q nailed Werth at 2B the Phillies runners would be back at the bag promptly on a return throw to the pitcher. And if you watch both of the pickoffs, Q doesn't just pop and and let it rip, he just picks it up and sort of non-chalantly throws the runner out. Looks like something from... Wait for it Little League!!! Just saw Michael Bourn get picked off by a lefty pitcher and make it safely to 2B and then on a routine groundout score from 2B.

I do a "Stikethree" as I take a step back with the right and chainsaw.
