Im not kidding man, those guys get paid..LOL after he was telling me this, I want to work DI basketball..
-
how far away are you from Sanford, NC I have a buddy who worked HS ball in NorCal who moved out that umpires. maybe he can help.
-
dumbdumb... I can tell you, I have a buddy that is a DI basketball guy.. he gets around 2800 for every basketball game, no he has to pay for his travel and lodging out of that money. So Imagine how much more they get for playoff's.. Last year alone he made over 100k just doing basketball. not saying that it is far, but basketball brings in about 400% more money that baseball does. MiLB is the same, they are not getting the same amount of fans as the crazy Yankee fans..LOL I do agree us College guys could get more, Heck even my basketball buddy says the same thing.

I think calling time and having a do over is the best thing, and maybe the safest, no one will argue, cause your not punishing either team. and you can explain to either coach and tell him what you have.
-
Ok... Im done here as we are not gonna agree...LOL.. I dont get in efight.. LOL as I love to argue rules like this one..LOL
-
I just want to know where you are getting your ruling from on the Balk.. If the batter is not in you can't have a pitch right?.. so how can you have a Balk?
-
ok.. you have not worn plate shoes?.. I lived in Missouri and they didnt care what color pants you wore.. and I believe everyone has to wear Charcoal grey, save your money and stay away from Combo pants.. you will not need plate pants at JEAPU. you will put your shin guards on over the top.
-
I never asked , just put them on..LOL I picked 40 for Pat Tillman, Since he gave up alot ( I know, I know he is not the only), but the only one in my era..
-
During the off season how often do you read the rule book? I know for me i read about every day, i keep a book by the crapper and when I'm at the think tank,I read something everyday..LOL
-
I know a few MiLB guys and that is one of there problems, money.. heck I can work a DI game at Tulane this upcoming year and get a little over $300.. a AAA will get around 125...there is a problem..LOL those guys need more money they work hard and deserve it.

Look, I know t college when a guy has a 1 foot out of the box taking a signs, I will if I feel the pitcher is gonna pitch put my hand up, I will protect the hitter... But I believe form the games I have called, the catcher isn't even giving the signs to the pitcher till the batter is in the box anyways...LOL I still will not balk this UMPTTS43...LOL I will tell the coach what I need to..like i said earlier, your grabbing the dirty end of the stick.
-
I have a pair Of NB 450.. love them. I bought the Reeboks last season cause everyone was all over them.. They are a very good shoe.. comfy, light, has traction. I bought the low pair, I am not a fan of high tops.. my shin guards cover them up..LOL
-
I agree with Rich here... you cant throw to a batter who isnt in the box ( unless the umpire is directing him, and in this OP that is not the case) To me this is nothing..I don't think the batter is trying to pull a fast one, just maybe not paying attention..Im calling a no pitch.. and who is gonna argue?
-
Im confused.. you will let the pitcher pitch the ball even if the batter is not in the box?.... your saying you would balk him, if he stopped.. but why are you gonna let the pitcher pitch if the batter is not in the box? We tell the batter to keep a foot in ( or he can't leave the box) and if the batter is getting signs while the pitcher is waiting for him to get ready, are you still gonna let the pitcher pitch even thought the batter is getting signs? kinda seems like the same thing.
-
Im going to Harry's.. I dont plan on writing anything on here.. I will read, but not post. I will say if you have no desire to go to PBUC, then who cares if you post. But if anyone is trying to get a "job" then stay away.
-
mstaylor I will disagree.... the batter wasnt in the Umpire should have never allowed a pitch or attempt to pitch happen... If the batter was not getting in the box after the PU told him, he then can award a strike to the batter for delay, but no way should a pitch have been allowed, nor a balk to be called... No your awarding the offensive for delaying?
-
I will tell you a story about a guy walking through the woods..he comes up to a stick in the trail, and it is huge, and he can lift it out of the way, but one side has all kinds of crap on it, I mean, dog crap, trash, nasty dirt ... the other side has nothing on it.... which side are you gonna grab.. the SH*#ty end or the clean end? This is a example of grabbing the SH*#ty end of the stick.. Call time and make it a do over or nothing... yes the batter delayed, but the umpire wasnt making him get in right?...then the pitcher is not suppose to pitch the ball.
-
?... Please let me know the rule on this one.. cause I know the rule says, the batter can't cause a balk, by taking his time.. NCAA rule 9-3-g. g. Failing to throw to the batter immediately after making any motion with any part of the body such as the pitcher habitually uses in the delivery; A.R.—If the pitcher, with a runner on base, stops or hesitates the delivery because the batter steps out of the box, holds up a hand or uses any other action as if calling time, it shall not be a balk. The rule has been violated by both the batter and the pitcher, and the umpire shall call “Time” and begin the play anew.
-
Actually this play is Illegal, the snap has to be direct and immediate, this is a slow snap, .. plus there are 5 players in the backfield..LOL
-

OK so I moved down to Biloxi, MS in Late may, meet some of the umpires... our assoc is ok sized I believe some one said like 60 guys... Well this weekend we had a Clinic that cost a $100.. we have a local guy who worked regional's for NCAA and also works in the Independent pro leagues. He help a young umpire go to Pro school and he even got a job in the MiLB's. well he is no a AA umpire. The AA umpire knows MLB umpire "LAZ" Diaz real well, and he brought Laz with him.. It was pretty cool. the only thing that sucked we had 7 guys show up, yes I said 7. But you can tell who wants to learn. I picked up a few things from those guys, a really good plate Conference tips. 1 more cool story here, we had a brand new guy ( well he was like 50) and he had nothing no pants jackets anything, by the time this guy leaves, he has a pair of Hoings Poly wools, a equipment bag, hat, Shin guards, a chest protector, and Laz Diaz jacket from this season. Pulled right off his back. It really goes to show how much of a brother hood we umpires really are. BTW Laz is a really nice guy and a great Instructor. He was down to earth, funny and very approachable. Just thought i would share my luck.. :yippie:
