johnnyg08 Posted Wednesday at 03:26 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:26 AM Starters: Jones DH Smith F1 Bench Player: Thomas replaces Smith as pitcher in the 3rd inning. In the 4th inning Jones hits a double and turned his ankle rounding 1B and needs to come out of the game. Offense reenters Smith for Jones and remains in the game as DH for Thomas who continues to pitch. Legal? Quote

If you properly used a 10 slot lineup it would be obvious that Smith could only reenter in the 10 spot for Thomas. 1 Quote

Thomas burned. 10 spot lined out. Smith for Jones in Jones slot. DH terminated. Jones has has 1 reentry. Quote

No, even if your card is utilizing 10 slots, the Defensive Player and the DH are actually sharing the same spot in the batting order. Because of this, when the Defensive Player enters on Offense, we put him in the DH spot and kill the 10th spot, dropping to straight 9. Basically, the offense just removed 2 players with 1 entry. What do you mean by "No"? The first question in the OP was whether the removed Defensive Player could legally sub for his DH while his Defensive sub was in the game. The answer is no. Once our OP posted what the rule would allow I followed with he could replace the Defensive sub with his starter Defensive player in the 10 spot and then cross out the 10 spot to put him in the DH's slot. You said Smith could only reenter in the 10 spot. That isn't true. Smith can reenter in either place. Either he reenters defensively in the 10 spot or offensively wherever the DH is. If Smith reenters offensively for the DH, it kills the DH for the game and both the DH and the Smith's original substitute are removed from the game at that point (sub is out fully, original DH still has reentry rights as a starter).
