For this...I think I can get advice from baseball & softball umpires at all levels. You want some advice? At the pregame meeting remind the coaches you are working by yourself that you will work hard and you'll do the best you can. Quote

That would be the case regardless of the number of umpires on the game. 1 Quote

I would say remind them that they only paid for one set of eyes and they’ll only get one set of eyes. Remind me again just why we would work harder for this? Quote
noumpere Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 I would remind them that "it's not the worst partner I've ever had." 1 Quote

johnnyg08 Posted March 30 Author Report Posted March 30 Question on the double first base... Do they require a second post in the ground or is it simply attached to the main base? Quote

Although, in an advertisement, I have seen the colored base have a plate that extends under the white base and the plate has a square hole that allows the white base's post to go through. 1 Quote

That's gonna be the play. I don't think teams are going to want two anchor points. Quote
The Man in Blue Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 Not sure what NCAA is using, but I will tell you that you do want two anchor points. Otherwise, you are up there trying to straighten the bag out after every play. It will slide and rotate. Guys, this isn’t rocket science or even anything even remotely new just because it is new to the stubbornly stagnant baseball world. Quote

Teams will be concerned about having a regular base and then the double 1b. Quote
