cwbaseball11 Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 Anybody use these field shoes? Can you give a review? I'm particularly wondering about traction. We have a variety of different surfaces in our region, and Spring can be pretty soggy in Kentucky. Thanks! Quote
Ump242 Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 never had those, I swear by the Reebok Zigtechs, and I know guys that say that the new NewBalance are good, and others that love the Mizunos Quote

I wouldn't recommend them in areas where it is soggy or bogged down. They're better suited for drier conditions and turf. I believe @MadMax wears. 1 Quote
BLWizzRanger Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 I have worn these and Adrenalines. These are my turf shoes and I have never slipped with them either on dry or wet fields. 1 Quote

Now, keep in mind, in the environments I work, I’ve abolished (p)leather shoes that are heat traps, and I don’t need aggressive traction. Either I’m upon a roasty-toasty complex field, a reasonably well-groomed (small) stadium or high-school field, or on turf. When you’re on a roasty-toasty for 9 hours of baseball, the last thing you give a s#!t 💩 about is the polish of your (p)leather shoes! No one cares!! Then, for league / conference games I do, I have to anticipate 3 hours (more or less)… every day, with the only “break” from the routine being a Plate day! I’m at 222 (the winter has not been kind, guys), but I need a shoe that is not only super-cushy, but can easily transition to being at a dead run. A structured running shoe does this, in spades. Most of my colleagues have gone Hoka. Some have gone OnClouds. I wanted to go a bit different, so tried Brooks… and they stuck. Now, for truly soggy games (not on turf), where I need something with a more aggressive lug, I still have my Nike Terra trail shoes. The treads are like shark teeth. Otherwise, @wolfe_man and I both own New Balance Vaadu’s, which were their first foray into FreshFoam, and feature a virtually bombproof 💣 -yet-ventilated vinyl upper. I have also been scoping out Brooks trail shoes, such as the Cascade, for use in those games out in the northern sticks. Quote
Velho Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 +1 for the running shoes Asics Novablast 4 have been very very good to me. Zero traction issues in dry/wet or dirt/grass. Only thing on these wide higher foam shoes that I've encountered is it can be quite easy to roll your ankle if you catch an edge. 1 Quote
