I always keep mine very loose. I don't see how having more energy transferred into your noggin is a good thing

No, the mask spinning or falling off from a hit is still beneficial, because it represents that substantial energy is captured in that action. 

The video is very well done, and I don’t slight it on not going into the incalculable differences. Ump-Attire represents the manufacturers, and the manufacturers designed, tested, and produced the mask to fit and sit properly on the face. Truth be told, there’s no way to design a mask to be knocked off, nor a way to quantify and compare the forces involved in those actions in such a way so as to make a definitive judgement. 

Consider, too, that with the spring suspension of the Force3 Defender, and with the advanced geometric shaping of the All-Star FM4K & FM5K (especially when combined with an UnCap or a Skuly), that the mask works best when left as stable as possible. Which means, it should be a snug, stable fit, such that the mask is not only properly aligned to your face when an impact occurs, but that the mask itself is not being driven back, across a gap of air, thereby negating the springs or advanced padding the mask (and pads) relies upon. 

Which once again begs the question – why is Ty demonstrating with a Wilson DynaLite, especially one just using basic leather pads? 🤔 I mean, Wilson’s done nothing to improve the protective characteristics of masks – neither physical design nor materials used – in over 30 years. Why are we still stumping for them?
