Did a HS Varsity Game last night. Righty for the home team had a really fast and good move to first. He got R1 with it in the 1st inning.

Take a look at ~11:04 in the linked video ( a few seconds earlier potentially) and tell me what you think. It's nice to finally have a game I did on video to watch mechanics and situations.

Does anyone here see a balk for a no step or anything? or just a really good move by a righty pitcher?

Thanks for anyone's feedback.

And the game ended on a balk from the pitcher dropping the ball on the rubber. So I can scratch that off my umpire bucket list.

Hard to tell from that angle, PU should've had a good look at it. To me it looks like he didn't gain distance towards 1B but I can't say for sure.

  • GreyhoundAggie changed the title to Balk? Or just a really good move?

I put my mouse cursor on the front foot.  The foot moved.  It *might* just be due to the hand-held / amateur camera, but I'm pretty sure there was enough movement toward first.

I agree. Looks like it moved more towards the rubber than anything.
