New force 3

Will this thing mold to me, can I adjust the width or do I need to send it back? Where the top plate meets the middle plate, the vest sticks out about two inches on each side right where my arm needs to be. Already took off the small peck very lcro attachments. I'm also hoping that the cp harness I bought will let me make it smaller, I have it cinched in as far as it will go but it's still too loose.

A tight harness should make it fit more snug. Mine molded to my chest very nicely with the Delta-Flex harness.

I will trade you a System 7 harness for your Force3 harness. A System 7 harness being smaller should take care of the situation.

Not necessarily.  I put the Delta Flex harness on my Force 3 (v1) and it was difficult to make it tight.  The male clips had a little piece that was attached to the buckle that I had to remove (cut out) in order to get it tight enough.  The issue with the Delta Flex is that the triangle is very wide at the base, which limits how far it can be tightened.

I bought the v2 today and am looking forward to seeing how the new harness works.

I wonder if the F3 is just not made to fit the female form.  In your picture, the plates appear to bow out which isn't likely to happen on someone of the male persuasion.  Just a thought.

The bowing is more of an optical illusion. It fits quite flat on me but in all the pictures it looks like it sticking out.

Hmm, are you somewhat petite?  Maybe it's just too wide for your body type.

I am petite plus I drop 2-4 dress sizes during the season, which doesn't help. It might be just too wide, that is pretty typical of most gear. If it will mold over time, I'm thinking I might be able to have my dressmaker add a strap to the upper chest back to the harness helping it wrap around.

Protective gear is my nemesis, at least with Uniforms I can have them made or tailored.

IF you get the harness tight enough it should mold to you (F3 version 1 and 1+.) 

I understand that the F3 version 2 might have stiffer padding or a plate which might make the form fit a little tougher but even the hard plate CP's like system 7 and WV gold and platinum molded eventually with some work and wear.

I concur with @Majordave. The v2 should mold over time, just as the shoulder area of Wilson hard shells. Just had a discussion with Jason Klein of Force3 about this to confirm.

Stop wearing dresses during the season and the F3 should fit then.

My new Force 3 (v2) CP is due to arrive tomorrow.  I got an advanced look at it last night at our playoff meeting since another umpire had it already.  I am wondering if Force 3 reduced the thickness of the kevlar on the new one to accommodate for the plastic being put over it.  It seems lighter and thinner than the V1.

Also, I am a little concerned because this umpire said he took a shot in the chest and that he definitely felt it.  The "no feel" blast shield didn't live up to it's name in his case.

@gnhbua93, do you know if they tested the V2 in comparison to the V1 on energy dispersion?

I had my husband punch me in the chest with it on. Definitely felt the impact (which moved me a few feet) but no stinging or sharp pain. Felt more like a good shove of an open palm.

There's a big difference between feeling that it hit you, and having pain from the impact. Did they say they felt pain from it?

I've worn mine now 5 or 6 times, and it seems like it fits better each time.

Not sure.  He used to have a Wilson gold, and the fact that he felt anything was a surprise to him.
