Two man, do you go for help with RH batter if U1 is in B or C?   LH batter  I assume no help with U1 in A?  and again what about U1 in B or C?

Thanks.

I'll give what I have every time. I'm just saying, from A (LHB) I need to see hands and a bat to call a swing.

Exactly. A swing is a swing.

This one is actually not that difficult for the BU. If you see the barrel beyond the body of the Batter, he went!

That's merely an aid you can use to decide. There is no defined criteria in FED.

Simple procedure:

When on the plate... ALWAYS get help when asked, no matter where partner is, or which way batter is hitting.

When on bases... Wait till partner asks, then just call what you saw.

No need to make it any more complicated than that.

So I get the whole idea of going to your partner if the defense asks, but why would anyone think that U1, in position A, has a look at a left handed batter's swing that might be better than what PU sees?

I don't know that I would ever Go to my partner in this situation.

I think that's the first time I quoted myself. Who knew?

F2 asks,"Can you check that?" on a LH batter..... my response is likely going to be something like, " You don't think he could really see a check swing down there do you?" That has always ended the conversation. Some day it may not.

My .02; YMMV

Seriously?

If your partner didn't see it, he won't have a strike. If he did, then he will (and YOU missed it.)

Our association said it more strongly, but the point was, if you can't see that he went, call it a ball, but just ask for help as PU. No sense in arguing with the coach about asking for help. Just go, if he says ball, end of story.

I like the wording that AL Stripes brings up - it answers a question I used to wonder about. If a batter pulls the trigger early and then pulls the bat back before the pitch arrives in the area of the plate, is it  a strike? That answers it. Yes.
