What always astonished me about that movie is that they got Sir John Gielgud in it. I still don't know how they did that.

Never mind. Dude got paid: "John Gielgud turned down the role of Hobson several times, finally accepting it only because the salary he was offered was too good to pass up."

And if I recall correctly, he won an Oscar for that role.
