Plate shoes / Base shoes

Do I need both plate shoes and base shoes, or will one serve as both. Thank you!

Yes, you do need two different pairs of shoes, one for the plate, and a different pair for the bases. No, one pair cannot suffice for both, which I say in full knowledge that there are shoes marketed as "combo" shoes.

Spend your money on the plate shoes. I use the New Balance 450s, which I heartily endorse. Though I understand that the Reebok and Tanel Plate shoes are also quite popular with those who wear them.

You can "scrimp" on the base shoes when starting out, as pretty much any black "athletic" shoe (which does NOT have cleats/spikes on the bottom - just trust me) will do.

Reeboks plate shoes are great, and those are what I wear. Yes, any black athletic shoe will do for now, but at least get plate shoes.

I've worn the Reebok Plate and base, the New balance plate & base and I had the Gerry Davis Combos. The combos are certainly functional and save a few bucks. But the comfort level is far better in shoes which are made for base or plate.

Definately get plate shoes and a pair of base shoes. I currently wear the New Balance 450's and I love them. They're very protective and comfortable. There has also been great reviews on the reebok plate shoes as well!

I wear bot the Reebok Plate and Base shoes and will never wear anything else. Most comfortable shoes ever. I have tried the NB Plate shoes and to me they are to stiff and just don't fit right. But some of the guys on here like the NB's.

I normally wear a size 10 but had to bump up to a 10.5 on the plate shoes.

These are the conbos I had. They're not uncomfortable, they're just heavy, really heavy. But they're a pretty decent shoe.

Just received my RBK plate shoes today after wearing the NB 450's for 4 years. I can't wait to wear them tomorrow night! They feel extremely comfortable wearing them around the house tonight in an attempt to break them in somewhat before hitting the field.

I tried mine on when I got them ....fixed the laces ....wore them in the garage for 5 minutes, then did a double header that weekend ....NO problems!! COMFY!:meditation:

Used my RBK's tonight for the first time! Should have made the switch the day they came out! Even took a shot straight to the toe!
