Looks like he was protecting his F1.  At the end of the video it appears the F1 had a word with Manny.  It surprises me that Scoscia didn't do something to get dumped.  He usually does...a rat is a rat.

As I was watching I was saying to my son 'he's soooo gettin' tossed!', can't believe he survived it.

Maybe the fact that Manny initiated the conversation played into the fact that he didn't eject?

I was watching this and it was just weird from top to bottom. There was some chirping between the Angels' pitching coach and Donaldson in the middle of the at-bat, which continued when Donaldson struck out with some less than savoury antics from him.

Gonzalez went and had a word with the pitcher after Donaldson struck out and then Scoscia kept on chirping so Gonzalez shut him down.

Just weird all round. Nobody was getting out of hand, just chirpy.

This is a good example of not using MLB umpire as a good example. Going towards the dugout to have "words" with a misbehaving coach like this is froth with risk. I would never do this with a daddy-coach...if I have to take my mask off and go after know-nothing daddy, he is going to the parking lot. If you're going to try this with a professional coach, you better bring your game management 'A' game.

Scioscia might have gotten a lot of rope here, but I think I pitch whatever Angels coach that is at about 1:07 in the corner of the dugout for the "go back where you came from" gesture. Mind your business, no one is talking to you.

I think it's unprofessional by the coach. If two players want to chew each other out, I'm okay with that. If the manager wants to chew out an opposing player? Borderline. But no way am I letting another coach go at it with an opposing player. Let the ump tell the manager to get his house in order.

I had a similar situation, sort of, in a men's league game. A spectator, who I believe was a parent — yes, a parent at a men's league game — started jawing at the opponent bench. Apparently one player was doing something he didn't like, and the two traded barbs. I told the coach of the parent's team that he had to knock it off. In these cases, I defer to the player.
