Sorry Rich.  They are calling for rain and some wet snow here on Friday.

Curtain is supposed to lift for me this Saturday 3/21.  Hoping it gets played.

Leave it to umpires (at least in the NE USA) to root for global warming.

"It appears winter is not ready to release New Jersey from its grip, regardless of what the calendar says.

Forecasters believe a measurable snowfall is likely to accompany the first day of spring Friday as a storm develops off the mid-Atlantic coast with just enough cold air in place to keep at least some of the precipitation that falls frozen."

Friday's Lehigh Valley forecast From WFMZ.com

Snow probabilities for Friday:

Chances for 1-3": 60%

Chances for 3-5": 30%

Chances for <1": 10%

Gotta love NE baseball.

Looks like another long walk with the snow blower, and I just found out I have a lawn under all that snow. Game still on today do not know how forecast with wind chill about 10 degrees, do you think state would mind if I did the game in my winter hunting clothes I will wear my orange vest.

It's sickening looking at the long range forecast and not seeing a single day with a forecast hight in the 60's through April. Between the melt and the rain we'll be getting, I'll be happy if it's 3-27 @Newark Academy. If I get in any of the 6 scheduled before that , I'll be ecstatic. No turf games till mid April so that won't help either.

...And this is why I am not a betting man.

Notification from Arbiter today....

"Your game number #$%$# scheduled for 3-27 @ Newark Academy has been canceled.

Pleasantly surprised with the amount of snow melt today. I'll change my guess to 3-20

Wrong again. 4 more scrimmages on the schedule before the season opens 4-1.  :shakehead:

So I have had the first 5 games of the preseason wiped out. I still have one scheduled for Friday and 2 on Saturday. Maybe Saturday will be played, but only if the snow forecast for Friday is very light.

I suppose this is not as bad as it gets. Last year I had 10 scrimmages scheduled and was able to umpire 1 of them prior to opening day.

Alas, winter carries on!

Let's guess the 1st date one of us gets on a HS field. I'll go with 3/25

I'm sticking with it...i have 5 scheduled between friday and the 25th...

I think you're real close. I've got 3-23,24 and 27th. It would sure help if we could get the mercury into the 50's.

I got my third in today, a varsity softball game.  It was cold and windy, but it was softball so we were over pretty quickly.

Sorry guys, that's life down the shore.

It was so cold and windy today I wasn't real sad about today's game being canceled.

Saw forecast for the snow and have games from 23-28 not holding my breath on the first three, will depend on how mush we get, welcome march baseball in Jersey. Wind on Tuesday was so bad that it blew a couple of pitchers back off the rubber it was funny though.

We're at the point now where the only reason games are being cancelled is because these schools can't/won't/don't want to put any effort into getting the fields in shape. They just seem to wait for nature to make it playable. 42 and sunny and today's game was cancelled and I spent my day raking and cleaning up the back yard. If it were bigger I could play a baseball game back there today.

Why do I have this image of you leaning on a rake looking longingly at the sky? Straight out of a Bill Gallo "Yuchi" cartoon. :D
