Been home for less than a month and I'm already at 3. Seems like some guys haven't been taking care of business when I was gone. Before anyone says I gave him too many warnings we were one out away from a mercy and this guy had mentioned to the HC that he was gonna try and get run in order to fire up the team.

In the bottom of the 4th inning there was a play at the plate where the runner was ruled out. The assistant coach from began screaming "CMON THERES NO WAY HE GOT HIM" I ignored this. He then yelled again "Blue did he get him?" I responded by saying "coach he got him on the leg before the foot hit the plate." He then yelled out "THATS RIDICULOUS THERES NO WAY HE GOT HIM." I responded by saying "Coach in my judgement he was out, the plays over now." He then yelled "THATS HORRIBLE" I responded "coach that's enough." He repeated again "THATS HORRIBLE." I responded "coach that's enough." He then yelled even louder "THATS ABSURD." I then told him "Coach this is your last warning" and I walked away. As I was walking away he yelled loud enough for everyone on and near the field to hear "YOUR BRUTAL!!!" It was at this point the coach was ejected. He yelled as he left the field "GOOD NOW I DONT HAVE TO WATCH YOH ANYMORE." The game proceeded without further incident. The coaches name was.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Nice EJ. I would just avoid the "in my judgement" statement. That just usually leads to opening another can of worms.

Fair enough I thought that would be a subtle way of telling him he was arguing a judgement call (not that he would've cared anyway) but I see your pint.

You start out saying "Been home for less than a month and I'm already at 3. Seems like some guys haven't been taking care of business when I was gone" So to me what you are saying is coaches are acting stupid cause the other umps in your league are letting them get away with acting stupid. You then tell your story and it seems to me like you are not taking care of business either. A assistant coach starts up on you and you explained yourself twice and gave him 3 warnings.

So the coach is begging to get tossed in an effort to fire up the troops. What are you gonna do?

If I had some rapport with a professional coach who was trying to do this, I might confront him with what he's trying to do and say something like, "Lenny if you think I'm gonna grant you your wish and EJ you, you've got another think coming. If I have to stay here and watch this crap, so do you."  If he finds some perspective and settles down, great. If he REALLY wants to get EJ'd, I can't/won't stop him.

But these daddy coaches don't know how to act. If they are hell-bent on getting EJ'd then there is no limit to the stupid antics they will pull. The more you delay the inevitable, the more fired up everyone gets. Why let the flame burn ? Why let everyone be miserable? Send him.

If the other team can't prevent a comeback, that's on them.
