This one could fit in either ejections or funny stories so as a compromise i posted it here

 

moved back from college on saturday have 2 games sunday morning about a half hr from my house first game back is a 7U game......a little background 7u games have coaches pitch for 2 innings with no called strikes...then kids pitch for 2 innings and then back to coaches for the final 2....

 

1. mid 3 all ready to get set and play bot 3....i go HOK...drop to lock in....boom my pants split right along the seam near my crack running from just below my belt all the way down to directly between my legs......so now I'm embarrassed as hell...hoping no one else noticed (YA RIGHT!)....so i go through the rest of the game with split pants...so like any teenager with a problem as soon as I'm done w my game i immediately txt my mom asking her to bring my backup pair to the field....lucky for me my moms a saint and about a half hr later i have intact pants delivered to me before the next game..so my mothers day gift to my mom was making her drive an hour out of her way to help her son who ripped his pants

 

 

2. In the bottom of the fourth inning with HT batting I called a strike on one of the hitters. The HT1BC then yelled out from his position loud enough for everyone on the field to hear "Time. You need to be consistent. That's terrible." I responded by saying "Coach we're not discussing balls and strikes." He then again responded by yelling loud enough for everyone to hear "Be consistent." I told him "That's enough."

At the conclusion of the inning the HT1BC again came up to me and began arguing balls and strikes again. He began asking me "Did our team do something to offend you?" I responded to this by saying "Coach this is your last warning, we're done discussing balls and strikes." I then walked away, but as I was walking away, he yelled loud enough for everyone on and around the field to hear "CAUSE ITS OBVIOUS YOU DON'T LIKE US." It was at this point he was ejected. He then began screaming "Bobby, your getting reported. I'm reporting you Bobby, and your never gonna work another game again." He left the field and continued to stand directly behind the outfield fence. I informed one of the other HT coaches that he needed to be out of sight and sound of the field. After about another minute, he finally left.

 

that is my slightly modified report.....please remember this is a 7U game....with only 2 innings of kids pitch.....the only thing i think i did wrong was after the coach had been tossed was when he was hanging out by the center field fence and i told the coach he had to go the coach said "cmon he just wants to watch his kid play"....i lost my filter for a second and said "if he wanted to watch his kid play that badly, he shouldn't have gotten himself tossed from a 7u game".....also throughout my exchange with the coach leading to the ejection i made sure he never saw the back of my pants as i was just waiting for the "nice pants you clown" line to come!!!!!

 

all in all despite the ridiculousness glad to back

valid ejection......basically he accused you of cheating....

 

I'll just add one thing,....I once had a coach tell me the same thing...."I'm on the board and you will never work here again"......

 

After the game, i called my assignor and told him to expect the call......

 

he said:

 

• Just keep doing your best...
• You will be umpiring long after he's out of baseball
• And there is no shortage of games for good umpires...

Smitty plate. In their defense it was my older pair (hence the reason they were work for a 7u game) but I've actually lost weight since the last time I wore them so idk what happened

This says way more about him than it does you or any umpire.  He is attributing HIS emotional state to you.  I suppose I have run up against some coaches where I felt their attitude or treatment of me was less than ideal, but his statement that you don't "like" them just seems so junior high.

 

I could care less who wins or loses, and I take no "like" or "dislike" with me onto the field.  I'm there for one reason - to do the best job I possibly can on every pitch of the game.  Period.  The only thing I "like" when I am out there is the game itself.  I have too much respect for it to allow me to ever play favorites.  I think this is the attitude of most every umpire on this forum, and many who are not.  I realize there are umpires that don't feel this way, but I won't be lumped in with them while I am working a game.

combination coach pitch and kid pitch.  kid pitch needs umpires.
