Touchdown?

That hits the stumps at the non-striker's end doesn't change the fact that the ball reached the boundary. Given it bounced before reaching the boundary, it's 4 runs. If it was touched by the bowler (or another fieldsman) before hitting the stumps, and the non-striker was out of his crease when the wicket was broken, then the non-striker is out on appeal for the run out.

Wait, that's cricket. Whoops! Yeah, foul ball, unless touched by a fielder (most likely the pitcher) on the way through while in fair territory, or it somehow crossed the foul line beyond the base.

Just wondering.   What if the ball hits the sprinkler behind the mound and deflects in to the dugout between 1B and HP?

Troublemaker.

How far behind the mound?

Immediately behind the mound.    In a perfect spot to be relevant.

That's exactly why I carry a laser pointer in my ball bag -- so I can set it at first, put a piece of paper at third to get the straight line, and then add a paper at the sprinkler to see exactly where it is relevant to that line.

Frankly, I'm surprised someone hasn't just added it to the clicker.

this happens from time to time....

Proper mechanic?

  • Calmly call and signal Foul ball
  • Take off mask
  • Turn towards Offense dugout
  • Prepare to tell HC why....

I have sprinkler interference.  Inning over regardless of the number of outs.

Dash, that can't be right: the sprinkler is authorized to be on the field.

At least for a day game...
