I was addressing both issues but didn't make it clear.

Also, the idea that softball is harder to fundraise for as compared to baseball is hogwash too. Neither are revenue generating sports and have to rely on the efforts of the players and families.

I've bought the raffle tickets, the discount cards and been to the car washes. I support because they are my daughter's friends and it never once occurred to me that it's a girls sport. I've also supported the baseball team (my daughter's friends as well). No difference whatsoever.

You can jump off your high horse. We've all done fundraising. In my case, it's for my daughter's surf team. We've sold magazines, cookie dough, and spirit wear. Never checked to see if the Easy Ups are nicer for the boys surf team. Maybe I should tattle if they are.

I agree that both genders should be equal and I treat people of both genders equally. We have several fantastic female umpires in my association.  I see both of your points. @Matt I agree that the softball team should be given the same opportunities as the baseball team.  I also see @Grayhawks point that if it appears like one side is working toward a goal and the other isn't then the working side should not be punished.

That's the problem with this. The softball people have had every opportunity to raise funds that the varsity baseball people have had. The difference is that the baseball people got up off their asses and raised the money for their own bleachers six years ago, while the softball people did not. Now, because somebody cried, "No fair," everybody has to feel bad for the poor, downtrodden softball people, who after six years of doing nothing to raise their own funds, now want equal bleacher seating. That is just a typical liberal, "we are all entitled to equality," mindset that has already permeated and is causing widespread devestation in this country. The softball people should have been working to this goal for the last six years if they wanted a new setup. You can't just see something that somebody else has, and say, "Oh, oh, oh, I want that!" and expect to get it without putting in any effort. The handicapped seating issue sounds like it was lumped in with the complaint just to add more fuel to the fire, and get another talking point going on to help solidify their weak, shaky case.

I think having handicapped accessible seating is important because I live with my grandfather who happens to be handicapped.  They should add some handicapped accessible seats but I don't think they need to tear the whole thing down.

I'm reminded of the term "fair isn't always equal". I believe it applies here.

 

I love how people think it's okay for females to have less simply because they have vaginas.

 

Revenue is a cycle. You get revenue, you get nicer things, you get more interest, you get more revenue. If we didn't have laws like this, there would be no interest in most female sports because all the revenue would be concentrated in the sports that already have interest.

 

Hell no! They can do their own fund raising but refuse to do it. Why should they get the money from the other people.

Herein lies the problem:

 

If booster clubs provide benefits and services to athletes of one sex that are greater than what the district is capable of

providing to athletes of the other sex, then the district must take action to ensure that benefits and services are equivalent for both sexes. …

 

So if parents are willing to bust their butts to raise PRIVATE money to improve facilities for a boys team, then the DISTRICT must then use PUBLIC money improve the facilities of the corresponding girls team.  If the district doesn't have the money, then they would likely prevent any improvements to be made on the boys facility even though the money has been raised for that very purpose.  Otherwise, they would force the boys booster club to give half the donations to the corresponding girls team who possibly did nothing to raise any money on their own.
