Had an 18 inning, 4-3 varsity game on the 12th of March. Tied at 3 after four, both teams forgot the objective for the offensive part of the game. A really good game.

I didn't umpire it, but the longest game I've been involved in was 4 hours 20 minutes. Not only did it not go into extras, but it didn't go the scheduled 7 innings. In the middle of the 6th, with the scores tied, the umpires informed the managers that there would be a maximum 6 batters for the bottom of the inning, to either allow one run to score or get three outs, as the sun was going down and there were no lights to turn on. We'd started at 1pm, and it was a late-August afternoon so we were really only just starting to come out of winter. (Southern hemisphere remember.)

We broke a few league records that day:

  • most runs scored by a team in a single inning (us, 19 in the 1st)
  • most runs scored in a single inning by both teams (19-6, so 25 in the 1st)
  • most runs scored by a losing team (them, 41)
  • most runs scored in a game (42-41, so 83)

I claim longest 7 inning game to only go 6 innings, but that's not an official one.

How much good-natured (or not so good-natured) needling did you take for that?

If I was your partner, you'd not have heard the end of it yet.  :givebeer:

Watching from the stands:  Binghamton Mets vs. Erie Seawolves. July 4 2014. 16 innings. 5 hrs 26 min.  PU took a shot off the forearm and had a couple of visits from the trainer. Had to stay - fireworks after the game at 12:35 am. Our friends on the stadium crowd-entertainment crew had a 9 hour day - and they get paid per game.

They might have a beef if their pay was under state/federal minimum wage laws
