So, I'm watching the Cardinals, (aka God's team) and Al Hrabosky says that the reason the plate umpire sets up inside is because they don't want to see a foul ball that comes off the barrel of the bat at a higher velocity and they get in a position where they basically just guess on the outside pitch. As you've probably noticed about my prior posts I am incapable of making this stuff, (using this word so I don't get censored), up. Cheese and crackers. Had to rewind this portion of the game about ten times just to make sure I heard it correctly. If you have MLBTV.com, watch the first inning. GEEPERS!

He's half right... We do set up in the slot (inside) partly to avoid the foul. But, you also get a better look at the lower parts of the zone.

I guess in some ways, he is like an umpire...He sets up inside the booth and guesses on the outside stuff too!
