what are your thoughts on the Champros? I was considering getting a pair but I am not sure.

They are great. Very much in the Hockey Style mold. The straps have to be taped...they seem like they would self adjust if you did not.

I like them, but I like my Douglas shins better. If it were not for my Douglas shins I would keep. Since they are still new w/tags they make the most since to sell at this point...I have other shin guards that are great for backup.

I have hopefully got the deal of the century. I found a pair of Douglas guards online this morning for $20 from a consignment shop. Pics show some minor damage that Douglas can repair...rusted clips and a tear in the padding at the bottom of one of the guards. Other than that the pics look in good shape. Douglas said the can do it for $50 plus shipping. So Douglas guards for about $80.

That is a great deal. I am sure that Jeff and his staff can clean them up almost like new...plus they will probably be the older style black that I like better than the newer style grey.

How are they in terms of protection compared to the Douglas/Wilson shins?

I have the Champro shins, used them for 2 years and I am going to replace. They want to slide down and I find the knee protection to be inadequate. They are light but shortcomings are too big to be overlooked. Trying to decide between Douglas or WV...

Take a serious look at the Force 3 Unequal's. I got a pair for Christmas and you can definitely see that they were designed by an umpire and they look like the protection will be outstanding.

My Douglas shins finally arrived today. They're actually in better shape than I had suspected. They definitely need to be cleaned, replace the metal pieces and patch a couple small tears at the bottom where the shoe meets the guard. I'll get them sent to Douglas in a week or so and have them reconditioned. Looks like I got a pretty good deal.

How would you compare them to the Wilsons?  I'm seriously considering these as I just can't find any that I REALLY like.

I really liked the Wilson grey guards. The Douglas are much more low profile than the Wilson's. If I didn't stumble across these for less than $30 used, I wouldn't have bought a new pair at the price they are selling them. But to get these reconditioned for a total of around $90 for purchase, reconditioning and shipping, it's a damn good deal.

In my opinion, the Wilson guards are the best overall deal on the market. But if you can find a great deal on the Douglas...........
