Knowing your base awards is one of the main things I try to tell new umpires. The other 2 mains ones are when a ball is dead and when a ball becomes a foul ball.

The problem I find with many partners is that they are not paying attention to where the runners are at the TOI so I try to watch carefully when I can.

In the 3rd video anyone see the BU hold up 2 fingers.. this is a great way to help your partners out to know how many bases to award, cause they might not have seen the ball slip out on the throw..I mean attempted throw..LOL

I would assume Scioscia knows the attempted play at 2nd is a play, and the award is 2 bases TOT and he wouldn't have to question that call? Maybe I'm overestimating the baseball knowledge of a guy who's been in MLB 27 years and won 2 manager of the year awards?

Managers/coaches don't think they're doing their job if they don't come out and argue anytime something funky happens that goes against their team.
