New Member from Norfolk VA

Hello everyone I started umpiring now for a couple of months now.  I have 16 games under my belt during the fall season.  I have played the game all my life and coached the last 10 years.  I was looking for a new perspective of the game and found out about Eastern Officials Association and told the Assignor that I wanted to be an umpire.  He asked me, are you sure?"  I said yes then he proceeded to ask me about the infield fly rule.  I said I will give it to you from a players perspective and explained it was a fly ball to the infield with runners on 1st & 2nd or bases loaded with less that 2 outs and the batter is automatically out.  He went on to say what else, I said thats it and he laughed and said you have the crux of it.  That conversation I can remember it as it was yesterday and have learned so much every time I step on the field as well as from other umpires.  Looking forward to the continued learning as well as staying close to the game.
