Think about a situation like this next year:

 

Scioscia: Are you sure he was out? Did you see the tag. Can you get help?

 

Umpire: Mike are issuing a challenge?

 

Scioscia: NO- I only have one before the seventh inning. (Real reasons: I just want to defend my player, get on TV and try and imtidate you on your next call.)

 

Umpire: Mike turn and walk back to the dugout NOW OR go to the showers. Its 2014.

 

Scioscia: BUT I just want to-------!

 

Umpire: Mike-you are gone!

 

There is always complaints about baseball games being too long, how much time is taken up with the rats constantly coming out to " question" lots of judgement calls?

Hold up the stop sign when they come out and if they keep walking- RUN them! Then MLB leveys a healthy fine on the rat.

From the angles shown, if there was a tag it had to have been the most feather-like I've ever seen. But also from the replays, PU is in the absolute perfect position to see if there was or wasn't a tag. The runner wasn't making too much noise about it either. I'm still not sure whether I see a tag on those views, but I'm willing to trust the guy in perfect position, and there's enough that I can't say definitively that there wasn't a tag.
