My Opinion: I don't like the way Dan shoos Matt Adam's to the dugout, but I also have no idea what is said. And it still does not give Matheny the right to act like he did after the game

There are two hand motions he could use, the shoo motion or the toss finger. If you don't want to see either one, walk away. They said in the post game that he was walking away when Belinno shooed him. If he had been then it would be bush. Instead he was walking toward the dugout but turned fullfaced yakking. As a bonus, it was a strike.

I would disagree.  The player wasn't overly demonstrative, all he was doing was walking back and looking at him, put the ball in play and get on with business at hand.

I don't remember ever being taught the "shoo" mechanic, but without knowing what was said in that particular exchange, let alone any other niggle there might have been earlier in the game, it's virtually impossible to say whether it was warranted.

He's struck out, he's hanging around on the field of play, he's saying something to the umpire, and it's unlikely it was about the weather, inviting him to post-game drinks, or a sarcasm-free compliment on the quality of the calls of balls and strikes. In the interest of keeping the game moving, I get why the PU wants to encourage him off the field.

He looked at a good pitch, tip your hat to the pitcher, kick yourself in the butt for watching it. Nothing needs to be said to the PU. If he had asked where he had it and walked away, the shooing never happens. Yakking at Belinno and giving him the hairy eye is not needed, he was the one that screwed up.

The coach is a rat. Why wait until the game is over to explode. If it was that big of a sin why not deal with it when it happened. I agree with MST, next time just toss his crybaby a$$ and you won't have to worry about " showing him up."

Matheny is turning into a ass.. just like Showalter is..douche.. stop arguing ...The shoo thing. maybe Dan was telling him it was on the inner third.. we have no idea..I know i cant do this in a college game.

I think Showalter has been good for the O's but he does spend a lot of time out talking to umpires. The advantage is few O's get tossed so maybe that's not a bad thing. The players don't lose it because they know Buck has their back.

Probably because he knows the way to the umpire's dressing room there is through the visitor's dugout.
