Oh, he got Puig in the inning prior, and with a pitch around his head that ended up hitting his nose. I couldn't believe the benches didn't clear there but I guess they were expecting retaliation for their earlier plunk of an Arizona hitter. So he hit two batters in consecutive innings with balls around the head. I think that is why Mattingly and McGuire were so pissed.

I think this is the ONE case where using the media is better than dealing with it on the field... Call for an extended suspension of Kennedy to the media off the field, but work on keeping your players safe while on the field!

I completely understand why they would be pissed, I would be too if I were a Dodgers fan, but they need to focus on keeping their players safe while this is going on, not instigating more problems

I am glad Mattingly threw someone to the ground, I wouldn't expect anything less.  Kennedy hit Puig in the face and Greinke in the head and you want Donny baseball to play nice guy?  hell, I am not even a Dodgers fan. You know how these things go, they fight a little, maybe throw a punch or two, push a little and things settle down.  Use the media to settle things?  You are kidding right?

Kennedy hit Pius on an 0-2 pitch...... His immediate reaction was not that of a pitcher trying to hit someone. Not sure about that one.

Now, when he hit Grenke it was 100% intentional.

Nothing gets handled by a bunch of bullpen and bench players half-heartedly trotting out to hug each other. Add in the NBA-like rule:  leave the bench/bullpen/dugout and you're automatically suspended the next game.

MLB has been tinkering with self-enforcement of on-field problems and being more stringent at pitchers throwing at hitters -- a valid evolution.  Do you really think bench clearing brawl-ettes "enforce" anything at all?  (If they really are effective, maybe we need to start teaching them in LL. . . .)  The sport -- like all sports -- evolves. Making the rules about coming out of the dugout or bullpen in a confrontation stricter are hardly doomsday -- in my mind a welcome evloution.  We hardly need our chlidren's heroes teaching them that the way to solve problems is to throw punches; nor do we need to lose the games those players would have played to stupid fighting injuries.  (My highest level as a player was LL minors -- so feel free to discount my opinion as irrelevant.)

I would never discount someone's opinion as irrelevant. However, I would give more weight to those opinion's coming from those that have played the game at a higher level.
