I didnt quite follow the part about changing the straps but changing the pads is something I've always done on my mask and I probably should do on my chest protector as well.  It is one of the reasons I got a new protector a while ago, but its probably due to be changed again.

The straps were because of the rubber/elastic breaking down over time. The straps also hold and 'breed' bacteria (from sweat) that could cause breakdown of the skin, from what I could tell

Okay well as long as they are stillholding and I don't get any skin rash I think I'll just keep them.  Not that its a big expense, but I'm just lazy. lol.

I agree in changing the wilson or other pads but the TW pads do not lose protective properties, per TW

That would be great news if it is true. How long have they been on the market?

I have the diamond with TW pads. I had the chance to speak with Randy Marsh a about his mask. He was using a titanium mask but switched back to a regular mask. Not sure the metal makeup he switched to. He received a concussion with the titanium and blamed it to the fact that the titanium doesn't bend. I read an earlier comment that the Wilson Ti mask bent. Never heard that before. Either way it's my belief that the pads are the most important part of your mask. If the mask doesn't bend or dent to absorb any energy it will transfer to your face. How much depends on your pads. Marsh could have any mask (probably for free) and that was his story. I agree. Had a concussion last week. 13U. Catcher missed the pitch. Surprise! Tipped it up into my face and was dizzy for 10 days. Probably 55 MPH. Go figure. Murphy's Law. Get the TW'S or wrap around pads.

Did you have the TW's when you received the concussion?

Yes. I swapped out my Doe skins last season for the TW'S. The hit wasn't that hard it just hit at an unusual angle. Sooo, I'm out for youth ball during the HS season. Feels like a good decision.

That's the ice grey frame, yes? I'm considering ordering one. What's your review of the frame? How heavy is it? Good view?

Both Questions on the Davis.

Jocko: It is the Ice Frame. It is quite light...Similar to the +Pos, Lighter than the Honigs, All-Star or Wilson. View is unique...I like it. Wider profile than the Wilson LP but closer to the Face than the Honigs or All-Star...Further from the nose than the LP too.

T-Rav: No Shots yet...live in IA. Can't wait to get started as soon as the fields loose the snow and harden...pain!!!!
