I'm looking for a new CP so I start dropping hints to my wife that perhaps an U-A gift certificate might make a gear gift because I'm not sure exactly what CP I want. She tells me "There's a guy a work with that "does some umpiring" I'll ask him what he thinks. I'm thinking, great, some help this will be.

A few days go buy and nothing. I mention it again, she says, "I haven't seen Mitch yet. He's only in my department once in a while. When I see him I'll ask."

Last week she says she talked to Mitch and he said he has 2 CP's I might be interested in. He'll give them to my wife and I can take a look at them. One is his old one he doesn't use that he'll give me, and another is new from a friend of his who's looking for $65 for it. I say fine, what can it hurt? I'll take a look.

Well, Friday my wife walks in with 2 CP's. One old Platinum, heavily used he says I can have if I want it. The other...still in a bag with tags....A brand new GOLD!! There's a note from Mitch saying his friend wants $65. Wow...My lucky day. :yippie:

So I ask my wife, "This guy Mitch, where does he umpire?" She tells me "Oh, he says he doesn't umpire much any more. He spends most of his time evaluating MLB umpires." WHAT?? :agasp_: My wife works with a MBL evaluator and never thought to mention it to me or tell me to stop in and meet this guy some time?? :HS Women can be strange sometime. However I will be giving him a call and thank him for the steal of the GOLD.

My wife and your wife were made from the same mold. Cal Ripkin was visiting her office and was signing autographs for employees one day. I say, "Did you get me one?" She says, "I didn't think you would want from an old guy?!!?!?" I kid you not.
