Maybe just maybe, it is the old, I make 23 million a year and I have probably just grounded into a game ending double play, so I want the fans to think I am busting my butt with a slide to get my uniform dirty and deflect all the boos that I am going to get. Now they would never do that would they, especially in a big game, or in a game where they are having a bad day or made an error previously, especially since all the studies show you get to first quicker without the slide.

Again, they just wouldn't be dumb enough to sacrifice getting to the base quicker and perhaps beating the play, for a sympathy slide so the fans will not give them a bunch of crap for their performance would they? Low rent bunch of jackwagons.

And yes, I know the call was missed.

And maybe, just maybe he dove into the bag because his calf is a mess. Teix gives 100% every time. He re-aggrivated the calf on that play busting it down the line and now might be out for an extended period.

Back to the call....... HE BLEW IT! If this was a perfect game preservation call, he would be remembered like Jim "Stayin Alive" Joyce for the call. As it is, Meals just completely made the wrong call. Hey, SH*# happens, right? When I miss one, I'll own it (hasn't happened yet ) . Too bad it was in a penant race game though.
