RichMSN will be on ESPN at 1pm today working the dish for the Indiana Kentucky game the final for the great lakes region. Winner goes to the LLWS. Congrats to him and I will be in chat at 1pm watching and discussing the game if anyone would like to join me.

Rats - I'll be at a dress rehearsal for a theater performance we're involved with.

Good Luck!

Don't Suck!

Pray no one swings at an IBB. ;-)

Now that's funny. I think even RichMSN would agree.

I'm watching the replay. They said his name at like the 23:30 mark. I pointed at the screen and shouted "I know that guy!!" Only to remember that no I don't know that guy and I'm watching it alone on my computer at 1 in the morning.

Awesome safe call at home for Kentucky's second run.

Watching the SD v NE game. The U3 just took a brush out of his pants, brushed off the detachable bag and put it back into place. Oh brother Little League...

The guy working the plate in the Neb. game doesn't have a clue! :agasp_: :WTF

It looked like he just called a ball foul because it landed in foul territory before going fair. That's the impression I got from his hand motions.

The detachable bases sit on nubs and when they come off, the dirt around the nubs has to be removed. It's either a brush, as the U3 used, or your hands, as I used on TV Thursday afternoon when I worked third.

I was the waterboy today on the third base line and that seat is terrible - I couldn't see the plate.

The PU in the Idaho game is barely bending over. His head is above the batters. Seems to have a decent strike zone so far.

I've noticed alot of the Little League umpires are setting really high. I haven't been to a Little League clinic but it makes me wonder if they are teaching that, maybe because the zone is higher, I don't know.

They have those same bases at one of the Little Leagues I work, they can be a pain. You have to get all of the dirt from off the bottom plate or the base will keep coming off even when somebody just steps on it. I guess I might give the guy a pass on brushing that off, at least it wasn't the actual base. LOL

One league I work has bases that have a magnetic base and they are much better.

That's kind of what I figured. I still balk at the idea of umpires having to put the bases back at all. Guess that's just how they do it.
