Hi there,

We've touched this subject on a few occasions; the last time was when Mike Brown got fired. Why are coaches always the one to blame when a team fails (in other words they get fired)

1) Is it because it's easier to replace a coach then players?

2) Easier target?

What are your thoughts?

I'm not just talking Basketball either, I am talking about all professional sports.

It's hard to fire your star quarterback, point guard or shortstop. It's also hard to fire the owner which is where a lot of the problem lies. Look at the Redskins, have we had a good season since Snyder bought hte team, not really. Have we had a line of good coaches, some good, some not. Have we had some decent talent, absolutely. Have we paid a ton of money for supposed talent that hasn't panned out, see Hainesworth. Sometimes the coach loses the respect of the team and does have to go.

There many strange things that happen in sports and this one. Think about what happens with pitchers. They are struggling and the manager yells at the catcher to give him a bigger target. The pitcher finally hits the zone and gets a grounder and the fielder kicks it a perfect double play ball, the pitcher gets pulled. I have never understood that thought process but it seems to apply to owners and coaches.

On the flip side of the coin look at the O's. Since Showalter they had the best record in baseball and had no real player changes.

But yes coaches are easy to blame, and often the owners are at fault.

Now the Heat is questioning their coach. Never mind they have three bazillion dollar players that are getting their butts kicked. I love it.

Mike,

Related to your other comment about the NBA, wholeheartedly agree on both counts...never been a big basketball fan and even less of a NBA fan, especially in this "We are the world" LeBron era, which has seen the sacking of a good coach, Brown, solely to appease one player.

Sorry if this piles on as a Heat or James-bashing post, but came across a really good article on the situation yesterday, with a similar follow-on article...see both below. Good to see the truth coming out and good luck to Spoelstra!

I don't watch the NBA, too many tall whiners, not enough playing hard. LeBron is just another pampered babies they call players. Other sports have their babies too, see TO, but not at the level the NBA has. I truly enjoy watching three so called superstars falling fla on their face and then try to blame their coach.

Lost all interest in the NBA when David Robinson retired.

The only time I ever remotely cared about the NBA was when my dad would get free tickets to the Charlotte Hornets.

I quit watching the NBA around the time that Wes Unseld retired and definitely when the Washington Bullets changed to the Wizzards. I wasn't happy they went from Baltimore to DC, then they folded to the political correct police.

I cannot watch the NBA either (and this is coming from a huge BB fan and official). All I watch now is the College game. The kids work hard and play great defense.

Well NBA really going down these days among the spectators I once use to be a big fan as well, but not anymore. Well talking about the coach’s matter, they are the ones who guide the player for the victory or defeat. So they have to accept both blame and appreciation.

Let's go back to the Heat and their bazillion dollar trio. In 15 three point or less games with one of those taking the last shot they are one and 14. The coach can't go out there and shoot baskets, he sets up the plays to put the money guys on the ball for that game winner. The problem is they aren't getting it done. Hopefully Boston knocks them out and we don't have to hear about the great LaBron and crew. We also won't have to see his stupid talc throwing either. The only reason to watch the playoffs in NBA is to know when that crap is over.

Need a hint?

"Its giving us absolute delight to watch you and your team die".

Right in there with the famous comment "your going to be in the HOF-- why-- for &ucking up the WS,----- I've won more than I've lost-----Ah, no you haven't.

And in case you could not figure out my post about what was so great to see last year including the playoffs, here is what is so sad for the comming year

Had he not been split up from Jerry Layne and quit at the half way point in 81-he probably had a good chance to be a MLBU.
